Chapter 102 Luring It Out
“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m your sister. Always have been.”
Snowball clenched his jaw. Waking up to that again made him want to black out all over again.
Sister? He didn’t want that anymore. He wanted more.
Still, he asked, “Do you ever regret coming here
She shook her head.
“Not even a little.
“I met Hudson, Evan, Rokky, and Adrian here. I wouldn’t trade that.”
He couldn’t help it. “If I’d been the first person you saw… would that’ve made you happy?”
Annelise nodded. “Yeah, I would’ve been happy. But it wouldn’t have felt the same.”
“What do you mean?
“If you saw me first, wouldn’t that make you the happiest?”
Annelise exhaled. “No.
“If I’d seen you first, and just lived with you, it would’ve felt like the old days. Like we were just slipping back into that same sibling rhythm
“But meeting the others from scratch? Letting them grow on me? Realizing how special they all are… and they all like me? That’s not the same thing.”
She knew she was being clear.
If he dropped it now, she’d let it go.
He was always soft, even in their last life.
She’d still punish him a little, though.
But if he kept pushing, a warning wouldn’t cut it If he crossed the line again, she’d freeze him out for good.
She grabbed a few needles and gently pressed them into specific points on his body.

Chapter 102 Luring It Out
Snowball felt like his chest was going to burst.
Sibling rhythm?
How could she think that’s all it was? She should be thinking more!

Back then, he didn’t even understand emotions. He wasn’t even human. But now? He was a male shifter. He knew what this was.
Annelise glanced up. “What are you thinking about?”
“I… nothing.”
“If it’s nothing, then why’s your energy jamming this up?”
She pressed the needle against his chest again. Showball winced, then yelped as pain shot through him.
“That stings!”
“It’s supposed to. When your energy’s a mess, this is what happens. So talk. What’s got you so riled up?”
“I… I was just thinking about that peacock guy. He didn’t even like you before. And now he’s acting all smug.
“He’s not even good enough for you!”
Inside, he was yelling at himself to chill out. Keep it together. Just for now.
If he let it slip, Annelise would figure everything out.
She kept working the needles, then spoke again.
“You’re gonna take something to help you sleep. Then I’m heading out tonight to deal with that peacock.”
She was still going?
That made his blood boil.
What was the point?
“Annelise, it’s already night. You’re not gonna find him now.
“How about waiting till I’m better? I’ll come with you. I just don’t feel right about you going
out alone.”

Chapter 102 Luring It Out
She shook her head. “You know how I am. I have to handle things the same day.
“Adrian’s still missing. That’s driving me insane. I’m not letting Evan turn into another mystery.
“Rokky’s coming with me. I’ll be fine.
“His nose is sharper than yours. He can track a scent way farther.”
Snowball almost sat up in panic.
But the needles locked him in place.
He stayed quiet for a while, then asked, “What’s in the sleep stuff?”
Annelise grabbed a bundle of leaf-wrapped powder and held it up.
“It’s made from local herbs. Works like melatonin. Drink it and you’ll sleep like a rock. No weird side effects. Completely natural.”
Snowball stared at the bundle in her hand.
Out here, they didn’t have real cups. Just whatever worked.
Stone bowls with chips, rough wooden mugs. Anything went.
Annelise had even carved a smooth stone one just for herself. She used it every day.
After a pause, she tucked the blanket over him and stood. “I’ll brew your medicine now. Drink this, then the powder. You’ll sleep through the night.”
“Okay. Thanks, Annelise.”
