Chapter 115 Beauty on Full Display-Who Wouldn’t Take the Bait?
“What gives you the right to take apart my window?!”
Outside, Riven lifted his chin in indignation. “Because you hit him. I heard him yell in pain! How could you bully a bunny like that?”
Annelise nearly choked on her own fury.
At the same time, the other mates had rushed out of their rooms as well.
Hudson asked if this was all a misunderstanding Annelise hadn’t hit a mate in ages.
Rokky kept his head down and didn’t speak, but if this strange and powerful male shifter really decided to make trouble, he was ready to step in.
Evan, however, remained quiet for a moment before saying, “Everyone needs to calm down. Riven, let’s hear from the person involved first.”
Earlier that night, after the High Priest had explained everything about the chief to Riven, Riven had thumped his own chest and declared. “Leave it to me. Other races keep calling our people a curse, so this time I’ll show them how wrong they are. I’ll prove we’re just as kind and righteous as anyone else.”
Everything had been going smoothly at first. The High Priest arranged for him to share a room-just for one night. Riven immediately waved him off, saying he preferred freedom and didn’t need a room. He’d wander outside until morning.
His whole race didn’t care much about sleep anyway. And since the cold never bothered them, they could party all night, even in the deal of winter.
And so, he wandered… straight to Annelise’s window.
“Seriously?! You were eavesdropping, and you’re proud of it?!”
As for the scent issue, Adrian had been in that home long enough that the smell of mate there had masked his own, so no one noticed anything unusual.

Annelise smacked the fat rabbit on the bed. “Go on-tell him. Did I hit you? I was treating you!”
Adrian immediately sat up, wrapped himself around Annelise, and smothered her cheeks with sticky, overly affectionate kisses. “Nooo… Ms. Crawford loves me… I yelped because she

was squeezing my tummy… but I like it when she squeezes my tummy
He had his own reasons for kissing her like this in public.
Other than Snowball, Adrian was absolutely the number-one contender for attention among all the mates. He seized every opportunity to win her favor.
Hudson felt a little annoyed, but then glanced at his egg and thought things weren’t so bad.
Evan narrowed his eyes at Adrian, silently thinking. I should’ve kept my mouth shut earlier.
Riven snorted. “Shameless!”
Evan agreed in a heartbeat. Well said.
Riven continued, “All this just to get noticed-have you no dignity?”
Annelise grew irritated. “I didn’t hit anyone. Let me explain: whatever he meant by being hit, it wasn’t me. So, stop spouting nonsense. Also, mind your own business. Did you look at the chickens yet?”
Riven stiffened his neck. “I did.”
“See any you liked?!”
“Yes!”
It was a totally normal conversation, but it sounded like they were at each other’s throats. Annelise planted her hands on her hips and hollered back, “How many?!”
“Five!”
Good grief, she thought. Not shy at all, are we? Comes in and demands five chickens right off the bat!
Even though their backyard was now overflowing with chickens-thanks to Evan, who somehow had hens laying eggs daily even in deep winter-it had been painfully difficult in the beginning.
Annelise shot him a glare. “Fine. Once everything’s handled, I’ll give you five chick now, since you’ve got nothing to do, go wander around-preferably in front of the Make sure she notices you. The sooner you’re done, the sooner you get your chickens.”

Riven glared daggers at her. “Fine! Just you wait!

After dismissing everyone, Annelise shoved Adan back onto the bed and gave his firm, perky little bum a sharp smack.
“This is all your fault! You had to tell him how Ised to hit people and never built houses when I was 20. Now, he actually believes it! We you there back then? What do you even know?!”
Adrian let out a pitiful whine. He grabbed his head and tugged on his rabbit cars while deliberately lifting his backside. “Mm… Ms. Crayford, hit me again, will you? I think… I kinda liked it…”
Unbelievable, she thought as she pinched his was. I’d heard rabbits get aroused from being spanked-don’t tell me that’s actually true.
“Go to sleep, or I’ll switch you out!”
“Yes… sleep. I’ll go to bed…”

The next day, Annelise started hearing rumors around the tribe about the red-haired male shifter.
After finishing combat practice with the High Priest, she went out wandering. Using the excuse of trading eggs for vegetables she’d never tried, or for the latest designs of beast-hide cloaks, she kept an eye on the chief while also listening to what the tribe thought of Riven.
Some females were saying, “That male shifter is so handsome! And the best part is-he can make fire! He’s incredible!”
“Exactly! Fire is sacred. It protects us from savage beasts. If he can create fire on his own, doesn’t that mean he alone could guard the entire tribe?”
Another female sighed dreamily. “I talked to him. He said he hasn’t formed a bond yet. He came from another race and is traveling from be to tribe, trying to find a chief to bond with.”
