“It must be the heavens making up for the suffering I went through the past twenty- something years, finally letting me be normal-a real bunny again.”

That, honestly, was why Adrian wasn’t all that upset this time.

Back then, he used to scarf down baskets of wild greens and still feel hungry.

But now? A few bites and he lost his appetite.

He’d even started hauling trees, not because he wanted to show off, but because he’d noticed something alarming-his strength had been gradually fading these past few days.

So before he got too weak, he figured he might as well do something meaningful. Help Ms. Crawford, help their big, crazy family.

“I’m not a big, strong bunny anymore. I don’t eat much either. I’m just like a gentle little rabbit now. And maybe one day I’ll take you, Ms. Crawford, to meet my parents and show them I finally turned out normal.”

Something felt off to Annelise.

She exchanged a glance with Evan.

Evan said bluntly, “Loss of appetite usually means you’re sick.”

Annelise nodded. “Exactly. Especially in your case, your strength and appetite weren’t from trauma or stress. You were just born that way.”

Adrian flicked his ears with dramatic flair.

He didn’t believe it, didn’t care, didn’t respond.

He simply held his chin high, two rosy patches blooming on his pale cheeks, filled with hopeful excitement at the idea of becoming a “normal bunny.” In his heart, he was already thanking Ms. Crawford. It had to be her spirit energy-surely it had worked some kind of magic on him.

Ahh! Bless the gods of the tribe.

But just as he basked in that joy, Adrian’s vision blurred.

His whole body wobbled.

Two steps forward-his knees buckled-and he collapsed.

Fortunately, dependable Riven stepped in just in time, letting Adrian fall right into his arms.

“Looks like he really is sick,” Riven said coolly.

Adrian still tried to put on a brave front. “No… I’m fine… I’m not…” And then passed out cold.

Riven didn’t move. Just kept holding him.

Annelise rushed over, pried open Adrian’s eyelids, pressed a few acupuncture points, and even flipped his long droopy ears.

“Anemia,” she muttered.

The others didn’t recognize the word.

So she explained, “It’s a condition where you start losing your appetite, and tiny red specks show

up in your eyes. It makes you irritable, moody, and prone to outbursts.”

Hudson was the first to connect the dots. “Wait, so Bunny’s always been snarky, quick to anger, throwing tantrums, and getting all worked up because he’s anemic?”

“Well… maybe,” Annelise replied. “Anemia in bunnies is usually caused by either malnutrition or internal health issues. But Adrian’s organs are all fine. And with the variety of dried greens he eats, I don’t see how he’s missing nutrients. He’s definitely getting all his vitamins.”

The others got the gist of it.

But Annelise remained puzzled. She’d checked his pulse many times before-it was always strong, full of pressure. Nothing ever suggested anemia.

This time, the deficiency had gone so deep she finally felt it.

“There’s one more possible cause-long-term meat deficiency. But rabbits can’t eat meat. Even eggs upset their stomachs. This is strange. Really strange.” For the first time, Annelise felt stuck. She had no idea how to treat him.

Hudson tilted his head. “Should we try feeding him some meat?”

“No way. That’d be dangerous. His system can’t process meat-best-case scenario, he gets sick. Worst-case? It could kill him. He’s a full-on herbivore. Just put him in bed for now. I’ll need to study this.”

What no one realized was that, after being placed on the bed, Adrian’s eyes quietly fluttered

open.

Only now, those once bright bunny eyes were glazed over.

That night, nothing seemed different. Riven stayed, same as the night before, settling into the third room.

Adrian remained unconscious. Annelise tried acupuncture, but apart from releasing a bit of pent-up energy, there wasn’t much she could do
