Snowball shook his head and gave her a calm little smile. “I’m okay. But I’m worried Mr. Rabbit might’ve gotten hurt when he fell.”
Adrian froze in place. That… wasn’t the reaction he expected.
No blame. No yelling.
Just genuine concern?
“I…”
From the top of the hill, Evan shouted down, “Ms. Crawford! That bunny’s totally lying! He shoved Snowball first, then threw himself off the slope and tried to play the victim!”
Rokky nodded, backing him up.
Adrian’s ears popped out, and his whole body tensed.
He was shaking with rage. “You little punks! You lying little-!”
Evan kept going, “We saw everything! We were right there the whole time!”
Adrian was ready to launch himself at them and throw hands. Too bad he couldn’t even reach them from down there.
“I didn’t do it for me! I did it for you!”
Anneliese crouched down and dusted the dirt off Snowball’s clothes.
“You’re really not hurt?”
Snowball smiled and shook his head again. “Not even a scratch. I’m not some delicate little thing.”
He gave her a casual shrug. “If a puppy gets scraped up, he just licks it and keeps running.”
That finally eased her nerves.
She told him to head back and promised she’d check in on him in a couple days.
Now she could leave without worrying. Clariona had just agreed to help recommend her for the saintess selection.

Not officially. But she’d privately speak to a few of the females who were already planning to back Anneliese.
Earlier that day, Anneliese had asked, “Is it because I stopped their mates from getting sacrificed?”
Clariona nodded. “That. And… you saved my son. If you hadn’t jumped in, that shaman would’ve dragged him off and executed him.”
That was it. Snowball was safe for good now.
Anneliese grabbed Adrian by the wrist and walked off.
He pouted and bit down on his lower lip, shooting one last glare at Evan and Rokky as he got pulled away.
Halfway back, Evan and the rest of the crew caught up with her. Once they found a quiet patch of grass, Anneliese spun around and shoved Adrian flat on his back.
He hit the ground with a loud thud.
“Ow! That freaking hurt!”
“Good! Maybe next time you’ll think twice before pushing Snowball!”
“What, so what is he to you now?! I’m your mate! Or did he replace me?!”
Anneliese didn’t even blink. “He’s my little brother. And what exactly do you think he did to you? He’s been here less than a week. You’ve talked to him, what, twice? What could he have possibly done?”
Adrian snapped. His bunny ears and fluffy tail burst out in full force.
His whole body trembled in that soft, pastel-pink outfit. He looked like a pissed-off frosted peach.
“He just bugs me, okay?! Everything about him drives me crazy!
“I’m seriously losing it! I’m gonna go nuts!”
Adrian had never been good at keeping his feelings to himself.
He was a chaotic storm of wounded pride and nonstop jealousy.
“You don’t mate with any of us. Is it because of him?!

“You’re saving yourself for Snowball, aren’t you?! Don’t forget-we’re your mates!”
That one hit her like a punch.
She blinked, then repeated it softly.
“Mate?”
God. That word felt dirty. Gross. Way too carnal.
Adrian wasn’t done. “What? It’s not that weird! That’s how tribes grow, right?
“You gotta have babies. That means you gotta mate with us!”
Anneliese froze. Adrian had no idea what to say to that.

She never even thought about it. Back then, bonding just meant biting someone’s neck. She thought of them like a collection of stuffed animals.
One to cuddle with. One to hug. That was it.
Adrian jabbed her hard in the chest.
“You selfish tease! You got me all worked up, made me think something was gonna happen, then bailed!
“You touched my tail! You turned me on! Then you ditched me like it meant nothing! And I didn’t say anything ’cause I thought you’d slap me again! I’ve been losing my mind over you!”
Anneliese whipped around and snapped, “We’re going home.”
“What?! You can’t just-!”
She walked away. Her head spun the whole time.
Could she really mate with them? Like… actually sleep with them?
She pictured Evan leaning over her. That rich-boy face? She could work with that.
Then Hudson. Those abs? Hell yes.
Turned out, as long as she stopped thinking of them as adorable fluffballs and started seeing them as men, the idea didn’t disgust her.
But only if she loved them. And only if they loved her back.

Back home, she locked herself in her room and tried to figure out how she was even supposed to explain all this.
But Adrian? He was already way ahead of her.
That night, he decided to sneak into her room and take matters into his own hands.
He stuck his soft bunny tail out and gave it a little shake, waiting for her to bite.
The second she did, he’d flip her onto the bed and take control.
Adrian was convinced-absolutely sure-that there was no way Anneliese could say no. Not once she saw him stripped down, ears perked, tail twitching, her face pressed into his bare chest, clinging to his burning-hot skin.
