Chapter 229
Hey sis, I heard you’re going on a trip this weekend with Damien. Can I come too, pretty please? Sabrina Johnson stuck close behind Amelia Johnson, practically wagging her invisible tail like a bootlicking puppy.
She’d just had a massive blow–up with Ethan Collins and was still fuming. So now, she was dead set on latching onto the Taylor family, hoping to make Ethan regret everything and come crawling back.
Of course, Amelia didn’t want to bring her.
But Sabrina deliberately raised her voice so Richard Johnson and Grace Williams could hear. With
her parents watching, Amelia had no choice but to say yes.
The moment she got the green light, Sabrina was practically bouncing with excitement as she
began packing. She also started getting suspicious–Amelia might pull something sneaky.
On the actual day of the outing, Damien Taylor and Liam Taylor each drove over to the Johnsons‘ house. Damien had zero intention of riding with Sabrina, so he tossed that responsibility to Liam instead.
“Whoa, you made lunchboxes yourself, sis–in–law? Is there one for me too?” Liam reached out eagerly, only for another hand to beat him to it–the owner being none other than Damien. Glancing at him flatly, Damien said, “This one’s obviously for me.”
Amelia smiled and handed Liam another box. “Don’t worry, you’ve got one too.”
After all, love me, love my family.
“You’re the best, sis–in–law!” Liam was thrilled like a kid, then peeked into his box, grinning. “Hey, bro, mine looks just like yours!”
But Damien didn’t bother replying–just smirked slightly.
Zoom in and you’d notice Damien’s lunchbox was shaped like a heart, while Liam’s had cheerful sun doodles. Love hides in the little things, huh?
Off to the side, Sabrina stood awkwardly and unamused. Hmph, it’s just some stupid lunch–big deal. I’ve already got someone prepping mine.
She turned back into the house to check on the help.
But when she finally came out carrying her lunch, all smug and ready to flex, both cars were… gone?
That damn Amelia! I knew she’d pull some crap!
Sabrina’s eyes blazed as she yanked out her phone and started rapid–firing calls to Amelia. Once, twice…finally, Amelia answered.
She gritted her teeth, furious. “Sis! I haven’t even got in the car yet!”
Amelia, fully aware, played dumb. “Huh? You’re not in the car?”
“Of course not! Didn’t you notice the back seat of the black SUV was empty?” Sabrina was practically yelling. “Don’t tell me you ditched me on purpose!”
“No way. We were gonna have Liam take you. He didn’t wait for you?” Amelia smoothly passed the blame onto Liam,
Hearing this, Sabrina’s anger eased a bit.
If they were pairing her with Liam, that had to mean they were giving her a shot… too bad she didn’t catch it.
Whatever, she’d just catch up now.
But her driver didn’t know the way, and after circling around forever, Sabrina finally showed up just as the group was finishing BBQ and ready to walk it off.
Starving and worn out, Sabrina trudged over miserably. “Sis, I’m sooo hungry…”
“Then help yourself. You’re not a kid,” Liam shot back without missing a beat. Grabbing Brandon Taylor, he added, “I heard there’s a lake nearby–let’s stroll over, walk off some of that food, yeah?”
Meanwhile, Damien had an arm around Amelia’s waist, making it very clear she wouldn’t be going anywhere without him.
Sabrina pouted, eyes glistening, but no one spared her a glance. Left with no choice, she started grilling meat by herself–still trying to act pitiful and fish for sympathy.Sabrina hit up Ethan Collins right away, texting him that Amelia Johnson and Damien Taylor had gone on a trip together, and even threw in some extra flirty details about their behavior.
She just wanted to make sure Ethan gave up any last bit of hope he had for Amelia.
Turns out Sabrina was spot on–Ethan nearly smashed his phone after reading that message.
