Chapter 231
Everyone in Heliovard knew that Damien Taylor’s car, the Shadow, wasn’t something just anyone could ride in. Any woman seen in that car was definitely more than just a friend. So if they/ randomly put a photo of that woman online, wouldn’t that be asking for trouble?
Eventually, they gave up on that idea.
“Let’s just use this style to find someone for the lead role,” the director sighed.
At least now they had a direction.
The assistant director stared at the photo for a moment, something clicking in his mind. “Hey, I think I saw one of the girls in the audition who kinda resembles her. But her vibe is way off.”
“Which one? Let me see.” The director leaned over.
“Still, better wait till the actual audition. Pictures can be pretty misleading.”
Sabrina Johnson had everything ready and even dragged Ethan Collins to go with her. Ethan was already tired of being pestered and finally gave in.
The director happened to know Ethan’s grandfather, Mr. Collins, so when he noticed how close Sabrina and Ethan were, he treated her with extra courtesy.
But the moment Sabrina walked in and saw how many people were there, her confidence took a nosedive. Still, her turn came, and she went up and introduced herself.
The director and assistant director kept glancing at her, whispering among themselves.
“She does look similar, but it’s like night and day,” the director muttered, unimpressed.
The assistant rubbed his temples and suggested, “Why don’t we just keep her for now?”
And that’s how Sabrina made it into the top three.
She hadn’t expected it at all, and the moment she found out, she posted it everywhere online. Then she ran to Amelia Johnson, all hyped up.
“Hey sis, once I’m a celeb, you’ll be the first to get my autograph!”
Amelia was seriously surprised Sabrina even made it this far. For a second, she wondered if the director’s taste was questionable.
Now she wasn’t sure if handing over her script to them was such a good idea after all.
“Anything else?” she asked, a bit annoyed.
Sabrina mistook her tone for jealousy and snickered, “Well, get some sleep soon, sis. Overthinking stuff can really mess with your sleep!”
Amelia rolled her eyes hard and just went back inside to continue working on her script.
She wasn’t just ignoring Sabrina–she’d even turned down Damien’s invites a few times
That night, like always, Amelia worked late into the night and only crashed into bed when she
couldn’t keep her eyes open anymore.
In the middle of the night, something felt off. It was like Damien was lying beside her. His scent hovered all around her.
Half–asleep, Amelia figured she must be dreaming because she’d been missing Damien too much lately.
But soon enough, she realized something was off.
The dream was way too real. And that hand on her waist? Definitely bold enough not to be imaginary.
Her eyes snapped open–there he was, Damien Taylor, gazing at her with those familiar dark eyes.
“You–you…”
“What? I showed up on my own. You gonna kick me out now?” he asked, pretending to pout.
Realizing she wasn’t dreaming, Amelia smiled sleepily. “No way. I’ve just been super busy lately.”
“Busy with what? Tell me,” Damien leaned in.
That question sobered her up, and she scrambled for a response. “Uh… part–time gigs.”
Hearing that, Damien sat up, grabbed his coat, pulled out his wallet, and slid out a black card.
“If you’re my girl, money shouldn’t even be on your radar.”
She nearly choked on a laugh. Amelia Johnson smiled and shook her head, handing the black card
back. “I get it, you can totally afford it, but I’m fully capable of making my own money.”
“It just feels better when you earn it yourself, you know?”
Damien Taylor didn’t argue, he switched gears. “How about this–come work at my company. Be my personal assistant.”
That way, he’d get to see her all the time.
But Amelia still turned him down gently.
When Amelia woke up, the spot next to her was already empty. She reached over and felt the sheets–still warm. Clearly, Damien had just left.
Damien had left it: “Morning, sleepyhead. If you ever need money, just say so. Don’t overwork yourself. And most importantly, no matter how busy you are, put me first–otherwise, I’ll be forced
The director looked frustrated. “Sabrina Johnson fits the look, but her acting… yeah, it’s a mess.”
The assistant director sighed too. “The other two can act, but their appearance just doesn’t fit the role.”
