Chapter 319 Rosalind’s Secret
With that, Nora finally put the Sinclair mess behind her.

When Rosalind heard everything, she was overcome with regret. “I never imagined Victor was the killer. I thought he was the man Laurel loved, so I never gave him a hard time all these years.
“I never even told you to cut ties with a father like that!”
Nora gave her a puzzled look. “Grandma, you don’t know who my real father is either?”
“No.” Rosalind shook her head and sighed. “Because of certain things, Laurel and I were apart for 10 years.
“Things were different back then. It wasn’t like now, when it’s so easy to find someone. By the time I found Laurel, she’d already had you, and she said she couldn’t remember anything from before.”
Nora didn’t get any answers about her real father from Rosalind, and she didn’t go digging any further.
Any man who’d lose his pregnant wife and never come looking for her in all these years probably wasn’t much of a husband or a father anyway. One deadbeat dad like Victor was more than enough. She didn’t need another one.
With the Sinclairs taken care of, Nora wanted to deal with the Blithes next.
“Grandma, what exactly is your connection to the Blithe family? Can you tell me now?
“Even if I keep backing down, the Blithes are never going to leave me alone. They’ll just keep pushing.”
Rosalind sighed. “You’re all grown up now, and with Julian the way he is, it’s time you knew.”
Nora sat up straight at once, all ears. “Tell me, Grandma.”
Rosalind took a deep breath. “The truth is, my last name isn’t Blythe with a Y. It’s Blithe with an I, the same as Cordelia’s. I’m her cousin. Sixty years ago…”
Nora made a pot of coffee and listened as Rosalind told her the whole story. She told her about the power struggles inside the Blithe family back then, and about the war between her and Cordelia.
In the end, for the sake of her daughter, Rosalind had given in. She’d faked her own death, left the Blithe family, and changed her name to Blythe.
Everything Cordelia had now, she’d stolen from Rosalind, from her place as head of the Blithe family and the title of Master to every formula and every bit of medical research Rosalind had ever done.
Nora was stunned. “Cordelia stole all of this from you? Then why haven’t you made her give it back all these years?”
As far as Nora was concerned, it had all been Rosalind’s to begin with, so taking it back wouldn’t be stealing.
Rosalind waved a hand. “I’m old. I’m all alone, and I don’t have the energy for a fight like that. Besides, I’m not as ruthless as Cordelia.

“If she ever found out I was still alive, she’d hunt me down and finish the job.
“Years ago, your mother went missing for a few years because she looked too much like me. Cordelia got suspicious and tried to have her killed.
“Then you came along, such a tiny little thing, and your mother died. I had to protect you. I wanted you to have an ordinary life, a safe and peaceful one
“And I figured that even if Cordelia had stolen everything, at least she was using it to save lives. So I let it
“Who would’ve thought…”
Rosalind let out a heavy sigh. Every time she’d backed down, it had been so her daughter, and then her granddaughter, could have a better life.
But maybe it was fate, and there was no running from it. Give an enemy an inch, and they’d take a mile.
Nora asked her, “So are you going to keep letting it slide, Grandma?”
Rosalind shot her an exasperated look. “I just told you everything, didn’t I? Of course not.
“When your back’s against the wall, you fight back!”
Nora smiled. “That’s my grandma. Once Cordelia’s out, she’s bound to hold a press conference to explain herself. So why don’t we wait for that and then crash it?”
Rosalind didn’t object, but she warned her, “We can. But Julian’s condition is very unusual. If Cordelia was willing to pull a stunt like that, she must be absolutely certain she can treat him.
“If we push her too far, Julian could be in danger.”
Nora slipped her arm through Rosalind’s. “I believe in your Grandma. Besides, my medical skills aren’t half bad. I’m even better than you now.”
Rosalind tilted her head and looked at her. “Be honest. When did you secretly learn medicine?”
Nora wasn’t about to tell her. Rosalind would be heartbroken if she knew.
Before long, Cordelia was released on bail. After all, the investigation had found that she wasn’t the director of the Blithe Institute Annex, the hospital wasn’t in her name, and she hadn’t known what was going on.
Still, her reputation had taken a beating lately. She quickly scheduled a press conference and invited reporters from all over the city. It would be livestreamed from start to finish, and she promised to answer every question.
On the day of the press conference, Olivia asked Cordelia nervously, “Grandma, are you sure holding a press conference is a good idea?
