Chapter 117
Amelia took a deep breath.
Christopher was trying to back them into a corner.
She pursed her lips and said, “Try contacting overseas manufacturers. As long as they can manufacture the product, we’ll have a way out.”
Claire agreed. The cost of manufacturing overseas would be higher, but it was the only choice left for them.
They couldn’t stop Christopher from investing so much in Tania’s ACE Technologies. The only thing they could do was to give the project on hand their best shot.
With Adelaide’s death anniversary right around the corner, planning for the event went into full swing.
They contacted many overseas manufacturers who were able to take on their project, which they felt thankful for. At the very least, the project could go on.
Dorothy called to ask about the progress of planning for the death anniversary event and reminded Amelia of many things. She was clearly worried that Amelia might miss out on something for her beloved friend’s third death anniversary.
Amelia assured Dorothy that she was on it, and everything was going smoothly.
That was when Dorothy hung up, relieved.
After ending the call, Dorothy leaned back on her lounge chair and turned to gaze at the photograph displayed on the coffee table next to her. The old lady in the photo had a head of beautiful white hair with a kind look on her
face.
Dorothy reached out to caress her face.
“In the blink of an eye, you’ve left me for three years,” she said hoarsely, her eyes dimming.
Memories of the times they spent together flashed past Dorothy’s mind.
She sighed.
“Please bless Chris and Mia’s marriage. They’ve been at loggerheads with each other recently.”
Meanwhile, Amelia was up to her ears in work.
Claire couldn’t get Christopher on the phone, and it was always Nigel who answered the call. They seemed to be deliberately making things difficult for them and for the project’s progress.
Bogged down by so many troubles, Amelia didn’t sleep well that night.
The next day, she called Christopher the moment she woke up. The phone rang for a long time, but no one came to it.
Amelia wasn’t surprised by that. He usually didn’t answer her calls.
She had to go through the proper procedures for the project
Meanwhile, Claire was busy liaising with the manufacturer
Ascent Corporation also sent someone to Infotech Group, the headquarters of Zephyr Group, but none of them saw Christopher.

They didn’t even send a manager over.
Amelia got out of bed and changed out of her pajamas. After dropping Evelyn off at the kindergarten, she drove straight to Infotech Group’s office.
When she arrived at the reception, the receptionist recognized her from the last time Nicole brought her up.
Amelia used to work for Christopher at Infotech Group as his assistant, and the receptionist then knew her. However, she never returned after her resignation. The last time she came, she realized that the receptionist she used to know had resigned, too.
“You’re Mrs. Zephyr’s friend, right? Are you here to see Mr. Zephyr?” the receptionist said with a friendly smile.
Amelia found the situation exceedingly ironic. She had to rely on Nicole’s name to step into Infotech Group.
The receptionist led her to a meeting room.
When Nigel saw Amelia walking in, he sat stunned for a while.
He poured her a glass of warm water, which he placed right before her.
He said in a low voice, “Mrs. Zephyr, Mr. Zephyr is busy right now. You’ll have to wait for a while. I’ll call you once he is done.”
Nigel was the only one in the entire company who knew her identity.
Amelia nodded.
Nigel went off to do his own work. A while later, Christopher’s assistant knocked on the door and walked in.
Amelia glanced at him and asked, “What’s the matter?”
He found her question rather laughable. “Why are you here again? Didn’t you resign? Did you regret your decision because you couldn’t find a better job elsewhere, so you want to come back?”
Amelia retracted her gaze and looked down at her phone. “If you’re here to mock me, it’s completely unnecessary. I don’t have the time or energy to listen to your nonsense.”
The assistant burst out laughing. He had no idea where Amelia got her confidence from.
“If you’re here to beg Mr. Zephyr for a chance to come back and work here again, I’d suggest you leave. Mr. Zephyr is spending time with his girlfriend in his office.”
Amelia continued staring at her phone, ignoring him.
Spending time with his girlfriend?
That meant that Nicole was with him at his office right now
