"Looks like the car following us earlier was probably not in cahoots." Tony didn't slow down at all as he put as much distance between them and the other car as possible. "Otherwise, when that car charged at us just now, it would have sped up and charged over too."
If the cars in front and behind had both been targeting them, there would at least have been a minor scrape even if nothing serious happened.
Sierra thought so too.
Suddenly, her phone was still ringing.
She answered. "Hello."
"Ms. Bell, the car following you now is with the person who drove against traffic and tried to hit you earlier." Lance spoke quickly, worried that something would happen if he was too slow. "Be careful!"
Sierra did not let him worry too much. "We shook them off for now."
Lance blinked.
If he remembered correctly, that car had been accelerating the whole time, and the map showed several turns ahead. They had already shaken it off?
Before he could think further, Sierra asked, "How did you know?"
"I..." Lance stammered, trying to make some excuse on the spot.
Should he say he was protecting her in secret? But since he did it without permission, could that also be called stalking? Should he say he had passed by while handling work? This area was basically King family territory, and his boss had no business dealings with them.
"Was the car following us earlier one of your people?" Sierra had never thought it was Lance himself. After all, the person she saw had long black hair.
Lance paused.
After realizing that his wig had saved him, the gears in his mind immediately started working again. "I sent someone over there to handle something, but somehow he encountered your car. Don't worry. I had him call 911 already. You don't need to get involved."
"Thanks," Sierra said calmly. Before hanging up, she added, "Please tell John to play his role as a stranger properly."
Lance let out a sigh of relief. "Alright..."
Sierra took the phone away from her ear, ready to hang up. She knew John must have arranged this through Lance, so she did not say much to him.
