Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack novel Chapter 112

Chapter 112

“Yes,” I said firmly. “This significantly changes the nature of the situation. What was potentially unstable, threatening rhetoric yesterday has apparently escalated into something more deliberate and concrete.”

I called Helena directly once Evelyn and Willow were safely back inside, explaining everything that had happened, the timing relative to yesterday’s threatening phone call, the disturbing symbolism of dead flowers left with such an ominous message.

“This is concerning,” Helena said, her voice carrying genuine gravity through the phone. “I’ll convene an emergency session this afternoon to address this directly. Given the pattern now emerging-the fabricated accusations, the threatening call, and now this apparent physical intimidation-I think we need to move toward formal restriction, possibly stronger measures, depending on what the investigation reveals.”

“I appreciate that,” I said, relief mixing with continued anxiety at the ongoing threat. “I want whatever protection is necessary for my mate, my daughter, and my father, immediately, regardless of what the formal investigation ultimately determines.”

“That’s reasonable, given the circumstances,” Helena agreed. “I’ll authorize additional pack security resources for all three locations immediately.”

I ended the call and made my way back inside, finding Evelyn sitting tensely in the living room, Willow held close against her chest, her expression carrying the same careful, controlled fear I imagined mirrored my own.

“The council’s convening an emergency session this afternoon,” I said, settling beside her. “They’re authorizing additional security resources immediately.”

“Good,” Evelyn said, though her voice remained tight with lingering anxiety. “Damon, this is genuinely frightening. If she managed to approach our porch without Sarah noticing, what else might she be capable of?”

“I don’t know,” I admitted honestly, understanding the value of honesty over false reassurance in this exact moment. “But I promise you, whatever it takes, I’m going to make sure you and Willow are protected. Additional security, whatever restrictions the council decides to impose, all of it.”

She nodded, though tension remained visible in every line of her posture, and I pulled her carefully into an embrace, Willow settled between us, needing the physical reassurance as much as I imagined she

did.

“I keep thinking about your father too,” she said quietly. “If she’s escalating like this, targeting our home, what if she tries something similar at the hospital?”

Cold worry sharpened at that possibility, and I pulled back slightly, already reaching for my phone. “I need to check on the security arrangements there immediately.”

I called the medical wing directly, confirming with the healers that additional security had already been posted following my earlier request, that no unusual incidents had occurred overnight, that my father

remained safely resting without any concerning visitors or disturbances.

Relief flooded through me at the confirmation, though underlying anxiety remained present regardless, understanding how quickly this situation had shifted from manageable, if frustrating, legal complications into something that genuinely threatened everyone I cared about.

“He’s safe,” I told Evelyn, ending the call. “No incidents there. But I want to visit him directly, make sure everything’s actually secure, not just verbally confirmed.”

“I’ll come with you,” Evelyn said immediately, though I hesitated at the suggestion.

“Are you sure that’s wise, given everything? Maybe you and Willow should stay here, with additional security, rather than moving through the compound right now.”

“I don’t want to hide,” Evelyn said firmly. “I refuse to let her dictate how we live, whether we can move freely through our own pack lands. We’ll bring Sarah, additional security if you think it’s necessary, but I’m not staying locked inside out of fear.”

I studied her for a long moment, understanding the fierce, determined resolve behind her words, recognizing the same hard-won strength that had carried her through eight months of independent survival before any of this reconciliation became possible.

“Okay,” I said finally. “But we go together, with proper security, and we’re careful.”

She nodded, already gathering Willow’s things, and I made arrangements with Callum for additional protection during our trip to the medical wing, understanding that whatever genuine danger Genevieve now represented, we needed to face it directly and decisively rather than allowing fear to dictate how we lived our lives going forward.

As we made our way toward the medical wing a short while later, flanked by Sarah and another warrior Callum had assigned, I found myself scanning our surroundings with heightened, careful attention, old protective instinct sharper now than it had been even during the earlier rogue attack.
