Rejected by Her Mate Claimed by Four Alphas novel Chapter 150

CHAPTER 134

Alpha Jaden’s POV

Clara was too dominating, argued back. She challenged me constantly, made me look foolish in front of the pack.

“And now she stands beside one of the most feared alphas in the region, commanding respect and attention. While you’re stuck with a broken woman who can’t even function.

The truth of his words cut deep. Clara had been strong, yes. Too strong for my comfort at the time. But that strength was exactly what had attracted Darius to her.

She made me look weak,I insisted, but the words felt hollow

now:

You made yourself look weak by rejecting strength for weakness. You chose Liana because she seemed easier to control, and look how that turned out.

I thought about Liana, currently sleeping off another one of her episodes in our bedroom. The vibrant, confident woman I’d chosen over Clara had become a shadow of herself, barely able to function day to day.

Liana is grieving,” I said, but even I didn’t believe it anymore.

Liana is broken. And worthless. And you chose her over a woman who could have made you stronger. Made us stronger.

The argument with my wolf was interrupted by shouting from upstairs. Not the angry kind, but the confused, hysterical kind that I’d learned to dread.

Where is he? Where’s my baby? Why isn’t he in my stomach anymore?

Liana’s voice carried down the hallway, growing more frantic by the second.

eeping

Someone took him! Someone stole my baby while I was sleeping!

I heard footsteps running, doors slamming, the sound of things being knocked over. Other pack members were trying to calm her down, but her voice only got louder.

I was pregnant this morning! I felt him moving! Where did he go?

The delusion was getting worse. It had been weeks since we’d lost the baby, but Liana seemed to have convinced herself that it had never happened. Some days she thought she was still pregnant. Other days she believed someone had stolen the child from her.

Bring him back! Bring back my son!

I sat in my office, listening to the chaos upstairs and feeling nothing but disgust. This was what I’d chosen over Clara. This broken, delusional woman who couldn’t even accept reality.

The shouting continued for several more minutes before it was replaced by worried murmurs and the

sound of someone being led back to bed. I knew the routine by now. They’d give her something to help her sleep, and she’d wake up tomorrow with no memory of the episode.

A soft knock at my door interrupted my brooding.

Come in,” I called.

Mary, one of our caregivers, stepped into the office with obvious reluctance. Her clothes were disheveled,

and she looked exhausted.

Alpha, I’m sorry to bother you, but

What happened?I asked, though I already knew.

Luna Liana woke up confused again. She was searching the packhouse for the baby, insisting that someone had taken him while she slept. She tore apart her room looking for him, then started checking

other rooms.

How long did it take to calm her down?

About twenty minutes. We finally convinced her to take her medication, and she’s sleeping again now.

I nodded, feeling the familiar mix of frustration and shame that came with these incidents. “Thank you for

handling it.

Mary hesitated at the door. Alpha, if I mayperhaps it would be good to have Dr. Peterson see her again. These episodes are getting more frequent.

I’ll consider it,” I said, though we both knew I wouldn’t.

After Mary left, I sat alone in my destroyed office, surrounded by the chaos I’d created in my rage. Upstairs, my chosen mate was lost in delusions, unable to cope with reality. Meanwhile, my former mate was about to become Luna of one of the most powerful packs in the region.

The irony was bitter and devastating.

I thought about Garrett’s call, about the barely concealed mockery in his voice. By now, every alpha who’d

who

was about to received that sss would know the story. They’d all know that I’d rejected the woman become Luna of Shadowfang Pack.

They’d be laughing at me. Talking about how I’d thrown away something precious for something

worthless.

And they’d be right.

My phone buzzed with another message, probably another alpha calling to congratulateme on Clara’s success. I ignored it, focusing instead on the sound of silence from upstairs.

At least Liana was quiet now. For a few hours, I could pretend my life wasn’t falling apart.

But the pretending was getting harder every day.

Another crash came from upstairs, followed by more shouting. Apparently, Liana was awake again.

Where is my baby? What did you do with my son?

I closed my eyes and tried to block out the sound, but it was impossible. This was my life now. This chaos, this madness, this constant reminder of how badly I’d chosen.

The shouting grew louder, more desperate. I could hear multiple voices now, pack members trying to calm her down, to reason with her.

He was just here! He was moving in my stomach this morning!

I stood up slowly, knowing I should go upstairs and help deal with the situation. As her mate, it was my responsibility.

But the thought of looking at her right now, of seeing the wild confusion in her eyes and the complete disconnection from reality, filled me with something close to hatred.

This was what I’d chosen over Clara. This broken, delusional woman who couldn’t even remember that our
