CHAPTER 137-1
Liana’s POV
I felt tears building behind my eyes, but I blinked them back. Crying would only prove his point about me being weak.
“I love you,” I said quietly.
For a moment, something flickered in his eyes. Something that might have been the old Jaden, the one who used to love me back.
But then his phone buzzed with a message, and he immediately picked it up to read it. Whatever he saw there made his expression harden again.
“I have work to do,” he said without looking at me.
“Jaden, please. Can we just talk for a few minutes?”
“About what? About how you’ve been embarrassing us both for the past couple of days? About how the pack members are starting to question whether their Luna is mentally stable?”
Each word was another blow, but I forced myself to stay standing.
“I can be better,” I said desperately. “I can be the Luna you need.”
“Can you?” he asked, finally looking at me directly. “Because right now, all I see is a woman who falls apart the moment something goes wrong. And a Luna can’t afford to fall apart.”
His phone rang, and he answered it immediately.
“Yes, this is Alpha Jaden,” he said, turning his chair so his back was partially to me.
I stood there for another few minutes, listening to him discuss pack business with someone else, hoping
he’d end the call and give me his attention.
But he didn’t. He kept talking, kept ignoring me, until finally I couldn’t stand it anymore.

Ltried to start a conversation about pack business, about anything that might engage him. But his responses were short and distracted.
“The autumn festival planning committee wants to meet next week, I said.
“Mm–hmm.”
“I was thinking we could host a dinner for the neighboring pack leaders.”
“If you want.”
He never looked at me. Never engaged. After ten minutes of one–sided conversation, he stood up.
“I have a meeting,” he said, leaving his half–finished breakfast behind.
I sat alone at the table, staring at his abandoned plate and feeling completely invisible.
The pack members‘ looks grew more pitying each day. The omegas who used to chatter with me and suck up to me now spoke in quiet voices. Even the warriors who used to greet me with respect now barely nodded when they saw me.
I was becoming invisible in my own pack.
One afternoon, I encountered Emma, a young omega who had always been friendly with me. She was carrying a basket of fresh linens, probably headed to change the bedding in the guest rooms.
“Emma,” I called out.
She turned, and I saw the exact moment she recognized me. Her smile faltered slightly, replaced by that
careful expression I was getting used to.
“Luna,” she said, bowing her head. “How are you feeling today?”
The question itself was telling. Before my breakdown, people asked me about pack business, about Jaden, about my plans for the day. Now they asked about my feelings, like I was an invalid.
“I’m well, thank you,” I said. “How are the preparations for the autumn festival coming along?”
“Oh, they’re coming along nicely,” she said, but her voice lacked the enthusiasm she used to have when discussing pack events with me.
We talked for a few more minutes, but the conversation felt forced. Emma kept glancing around, like she was looking for an excuse to leave.
When she finally did excuse herself, I watched her walk away and noticed how her posture changed. The moment she thought she was out of my sight, her shoulders relaxed and her pace quickened.

CHAPTER 137-2
She’d been tense the entire time she was talking to me.
On the fourth day, I decided I couldn’t take it anymore. I would wait for Jaden in his office, no matter how long it took. I would force him to have a real conversation with me.
I approached his office door in the afternoon, determined to make him see that I was still the woman he’d fallen in love with.
But as I reached for the door handle, I heard voices from inside. The door was slightly open, and I could see Jaden sitting behind his desk, papers spread in front of him.
He looked tired. Older somehow. There were lines around his eyes that hadn’t been there before our baby died.
“The border patrol reports are ready for your review,” someone was saying. It sounded like Ryan.
“Good,” Jaden replied, not looking up from his papers. “What about the supply shipment?”
As they talked about pack business, I waited for the right moment to enter. But then the conversation shifted to something that made my blood turn cold.
“The security arrangements are almost complete,” Ryan was saying. “But we need to finalize travel plans.”
“For what?” Jaden asked.
“Clara’s Luna ceremony,” Ryan said. “You received the invitation yesterday. When will you and Luna Liana
be departing?”
My hand froze on the door handle. Clara’s Luna ceremony. It was real. She was actually becoming Luna of
another pack.
