Rejected by Her Mate Claimed by Four Alphas novel Chapter 154

CHAPTER 138

Liana’s POV

Clara was becoming Luna. Not just any Luna, but Luria of Shadowfang Pack. One of the most powerful packs in the region.

The sister I’d destroyed was rising higher than I’d ever dreamed possible, while I was falling apart in a bedroom, searching for babies that would never cry.

I stumbled through the packhouse halls, trying to process what I’d heard. As I passed a group of omega girls, they stopped talking and watched me with those same pitying looks!d grown to hate.

One of them, Beth from the kitchen, approached me hesitantly.

Luna, are you alright?she asked, but her voice carried that careful tone I’d heard from everyone lately.

I’m fine,” I said quickly, but my voice cracked on the words.

Beth exchanged a look with the other girls, and I saw the doubt in their eyes. They didn’t believe me. They could see right through me.

Would you like me to have someone bring you some tea?Beth offered.

The kindness in her voice only made it worse. She was talking to me like I was fragile. Like I might break at any moment.

No,” I said more firmly. I don’t need anything.”

I hurried past them, but I could hear their whispered conversation starting up again behind me.

When I reached our bedroom, I closed the door and leaned against it, feeling the full weight of my

situation crushing down on me.

Jaden no longer loved me. The pack no longer respected me And Clara, the sister I’d thought I’d destroyed, was about to become more powerful than I could ever hope to be.

I walked to the mirror and stared at my reflection. Even with all the makeup and careful styling, I could see the truth underneath. I looked hollow. Empty. Like a beautiful shell with nothing inside.

This wasn’t who I was supposed to be. I was supposed to be the Luna who made Jaden forget Clara ever existed and proved that choosing me was the best decision he’d ever made.

Instead, I’d become living proof that he’d made a terrible mistake.

That evening. Jaden came to our room later than usual. I was already in bed, pretending to read, but really waiting for him.

How was your day?I asked as he started undressing.

Fine,he said without looking at me.

CHAPTER 1

4 was thinking we could talk about the Luna ceremony invitation.

His hands paused on his start buttons. What about it?

Well, if we’re going, we should probably coordinate our travel plans.

He turned to look at me, and for a moment I thought I saw something like surprise in his eyes.

We?he asked.

Yes, we. You and me. Together.

Jaden finished unbuttoning his shirt and tossed it aside. I already told Ryan I’d made my own arrangements.

But I’m your Luna. Shouldn’t we attend together?

You’re my Luna when you act like one,he said coldly. When you can handle public events without having a breakdown.

The words stung, but I forced myself to stay calm. I won’t have a breakdown. I’m better now.

Are you?He walked to his side of the bed and pulled back the covers. Because three hours ago, Sarah told me you started crying when she brought you clean laundry. Apparently, she asked if you wanted her to put it away, and you broke down because the question reminded you of organizing baby clothes.

My cheeks burned with shame. I had cried when Sarah offered to help with the laundry. The thought of organizing clothes had made me think about all the tiny outfits I’d never get to put away.

That was just a moment,” I said weakly.

Liana, you can’t have momentslike that at a pack ceremony. Especially not at Clara’s ceremony.

He got into bed but stayed on his far edge, as far from me as possible.

I can handle it,I said. I want to be there with you.

Why?he asked, turning to look at me. So you can see how well Clara is doing while you’re falling apart? So you can be reminded of everything she accomplished while you’ve been hiding in this room?

His words cut deep because they were true. Part of me did want to see Ciara, to understand how she’d managed to rise so high after losing everything.

I’m your mate,I said quietly. I should be by your side.

Jaden stared at me for a long moment, and I saw something like pity in his eyes. It was almost worse than

the disgust.

You should be,he agreed. But you’re not ready. And I won’t risk you embarrassing both of us because you can’t control your emotions.

He turned away from me and switched off his bedside lamp.

W

Jaden, please.

Go to sleep, Liana. We’ll talk about this when you’re actually stable enough for important conversations

I lay there in the dark, listening to his breathing even out as he fell asleep. Or pretended to. Either way, the conversation was over.

For hours, I stared at the ceiling, thinking about everything rd lost and everything Clara had gained. She’d been rejected, nearly killed, and left with nothing. But somehow, she’d turned that pain into power. She’d found a way to become Luna of one of the most feared packs in the region.

Meanwhile, I’d been given everything I’d ever wanted, and I’d let grief destroy it all.

But as I lay there in the dark, something began to change inside me. The crushing weight of despair started to transform into something else. Something harder. Something that burned.

Fury.

Clara thought she’d won. She thought she’d escaped the consequences of our past. She thought distance and power would keep her safe from me.

But she’d forgotten something important. I was the one who’d taken everything from her the first time. I was the one who’d seduced her mate and stolen her life.

I’d done it once, and I could do it again.
