Rejected by Her Mate Claimed by Four Alphas novel Chapter 67

CHAPTER 61

Alpha Ronan’s POV

I couldn’t get Clara out of my head.

Three days had passed since Kane brought me that photo of her with Liana, and the questions kept piling

  1. up.

A woman with no records, no past, no trace of existence before she appeared halfdead at Darius’s border. A woman who could fight an Alpha while drugged with enough ketamine to knock out three men.

The more I thought about it, the more I needed answers. And there was only one person who could give

them to me.

Prepare my car,I told Kane that morning. I’m going to see Darius.

Kane raised an eyebrow. About the western ridge?

Among other things.

Kane studied my face. Alpha, is everything alright? You’ve beendistracted since the fight.

I’m fine,I said curtly. Just get the car ready.

But I wasn’t fine. The fight with Clara had left me with more questions than answers.

The way she moved, the way she fought, the way she seemed to know exactly what I was going to do before I did it. No normal wolf fought like that. No normal wolf could take that much ketamine and still

function.

And then there was the way she’d looked at me when she finally went down. Not defeated. Not broken. Almostsatisfied. Like she’d gotten exactly what she wanted out of the fight.

The drive to Darius’s territory took two hours. I spent the time trying to figure out how to approach this

conversation. Darius was clever, calculating.

He wouldn’t give up information easily, especially about Clara. But I had leverage. The western ridge dispute wasn’t settled, despite my supposed victory. We both knew the truth about that fight.

When I arrived at Darius’s pack house, the guards at the gate recognized me immediately. They let me through without question, though I caught them exchanging glances. Unexpected Alpha visits usually

meant trouble.

Reid met me at the entrance, his expression neutral.

Alpha Ronan,” he greeted with a slight bow. We weren’t expecting you.

I need to speak with Darius,” I said simply.

Of course. He’s in his office. Follow me.

We walked through the familiar corridors. I’d been here many times over the years for various pack

meetings and negotiations, but this visit felt differentmore personal.

Impressive fighter you have,I said as we walked, testing the waters.

Reid glanced at me. Clara? Yes, she’sunique.

That’s one word for it. Where did Darius find her?

That’s not really my place to say, Alpha,Reid replied diplomatically.

Of course. Darius would have told his people to keep their mouths shut about Clara’s origins. However, the

fact that Reid was being evasive only confirmed that there was something to hide.

We reached the office. Reid knocked on the door and entered after Darius called out.

Alpha Ronan is here to see you,” Reid announced.

I stepped inside. Darius looked up from his desk, his expression shifting from mild surprise to wariness.

Ronan,he said, setting down the document he’d been reading. What brings you here?

Reid withdrew, closing the door behind him. I took the seat across from Darius’s desk without being

invited.

We need to talk,I said.

Darius leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed, but his eyes alert. If this is about the ridge, you should know the paperwork isn’t finalized yet.

It’s not about the ridge,I interrupted.

His eyebrows rose slightly. No? Then what?

It’s about Clara.

The change in his expression was subtle but noticeable. A slight tightening around his eyes, a careful stillness that hadn’t been there before.

What about her?he asked.

I want to know where she came from.

Darius was quiet for a long moment. Then he smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. You should go home, Ronan. The fight is over. Clara lost. You won. That’s the end of it.

Is it?I leaned forward. Because we both know I didn’t really win, don’t we?

The smile disappeared. What are you talking about?

The ketamine, Darius. Enough to knock out three warriors, and she still nearly beat me.I kept my voice level. Had she not been drugged, we both know how that fight would have ended.

Darius said nothing, but his silence was answer enough.

CHAPTER 4T

So I’ll ask again,I continued. Where did Clara come from?

That’s not your concern.

It became my concern the moment she nearly handed me my ass in front of both our packs,I said bluntly. Do you know what kind of questions I’m getting from my warriors? From my council? They want to know how their Alpha almost lost to a drugged female.

Darius leaned forward slightly. “What are you saying?

I’m saying my authority is being questioned because of that fight. My pack is wondering if their Alpha is

getting weak.I met his gaze steadily. So either you tell me who she really is, or I start spreading the word

about exactly how that fight was rigged.”

And risk revealing that you actually lost to a wolf? You wouldn’t.

Try me. How do you think it would look if other Alphas found out you drugged your own fighter? That you orchestrated the whole thing for reasons you won’t explain? They’d be too bothered trying to bring you down and forget I was even in the equation.I smiled coldly. Your reputation would be ruined. Not mine.”

Darius stared at me for a long moment, his jaw tightening. You’re threatening me.

I’m offering you a choice,” I corrected. We can handle this quietly between us, or we can let the whole werewolf community know about your little scheme.

You have no proof.”

I have the pack healer’s blood work showing impossible levels of ketamine in Clara’s system. I have witnesses who saw her collapse. And I have my own testimony about how she fought despite being drugged.I leaned back in my chair. How much proof do you think I need?

Darius’s hands clenched on his desk. What you’re suggesting could destabilize the alliance between our

packs.

Only if you make it come to that.
