Rejected by My Alpha Now He Replaced Me with a Copycat Luna novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

I couldn’t stop staring.

Five years gone, and Ronan Hale still carried that same raw arrogance-like time hadn’t touched him at all.

“You’ve got it wrong, Alpha Ronan,” I said evenly. “I don’t hate you.”

I let the words settle before adding, “You’re not worth that much energy.”

His mouth twitched-almost like he wanted to smile but didn’t quite manage it. He dipped his head slightly, that old look crossing his face.

“Heard you started something new in the Shadow Territory,” he said. “Tech stuff.”

He held out a card between two fingers. “If you ever need-”

He stopped. Extended it a little farther.

“My number’s the same.”

“I was young back then,” I said quietly. “Didn’t know how to leave myself an exit.”

His eyes dropped to the ink on my wrist. His voice roughened.

“I wish I’d-”

I swung my bag.

He jerked his head to the side, but the metal clasp caught him anyway-left a thin red line near the corner of his eye.

“Don’t say you regret it,” I told him, flicking my wrist dismissively. A short laugh slipped out.

“Makes you sound pathetic.”

A Cullinan rolled up behind us. Smooth. Black. Expensive.

Gavin sat behind the wheel. The engine hadn’t even stopped before a kid scrambled out, face blotchy with tears.

He threw himself between us, arms spread wide, glaring up at me like I’d just kicked a puppy.

Those eyes-round, wet, so much like mine it made my chest tighten.

“Don’t hurt my dad!”

I could see it in his face-he already knew something was wrong. Already sensed the mess we were standing in the middle of.

“Alpha Ronan,” I said coldly, “hard to teach a kid manners when you’ve never had any yourself.”

“At least try to keep some dignity in front of a little boy,” he shot back.

I didn’t answer. Just got in my car and drove off.

Two weeks later, Gavin showed up at my hotel.

“Sit. Want a drink?” I asked, trying to sound casual.

“Same as before?”

He shifted in his seat. Uncomfortable..

He’d been there for everything-the whole ugly mess from start to finish.

He’d handed me the prenup. The settlement papers. Even the deed to this island had passed through his hands.

“Miss Blake,” he started, voice steady despite the tension.

“Alpha Ronan sent me to ask about your plans for the island.”

He cleared his throat. “If it’s an option-he’d like to buy Silvermoon Isle.”

Irritation flared in my chest. I didn’t answer. Just lit a cigarette and let the smoke curl between us.

These past two weeks, no matter where I went, I kept running into Ronan.

He never approached directly. Always had the kid with him.

Somehow, that only made it worse.

“And this,” Gavin added, sliding another card across the table. “Leader of the Apex Systems. They’ve got the tech your new project needs.”

“Alpha Ronan already spoke to them for you.”

exhaled a long stream of smoke and let out a dry laugh.

“Mr. Mercer, if anyone knows the truth, it’s you.”

“What Ronan gave me back then was way more generous than this. Didn’t stop him from cheating.”

He went quiet.

I finished most of my cigarette before asking, “That boy-how old is he?”

“…Five,” Gavin said after a beat.

“Alpha Ronan keep

hes him himself.”

“He’s been through a lot for his age. But he’s bright. Well-behaved. Surprisingly mature. Ronan’s turned down half his work the past few years just to be with him.”

Something flickered in my chest-something I didn’t want to name.

I let out a short laugh. “Why’re you telling me this? He’s not my kid.”

I paused. “Though I’ll admit-he does look like me. Thanks to his mother.”

Gavin didn’t say anything.

When I finished my cigarette, I stood to see him out.

Two weeks after that, all the paperwork for Silvermoon Isle was ready.

The night before I was supposed to sign with Ronan, someone knocked on my hotel room door.

I opened it.

Elise Beaumont stood there-the Luna of Hale Pack, beloved star, perfect in every headline.
