Rejected by My Alpha Now He Replaced Me with a Copycat Luna novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Rain hammered down like bullets. Each step felt like drowning.

The skybridge between our hotels stretched out forever, my lungs screaming with every stride.

Ronan’s suite was right next to mine-close enough to touch. But it felt like miles.

I slammed my fist against his door.

Once. Twice. Five times.

On the sixth knock, it opened.

Ronan stood there in a robe, expression unreadable.

“What-”

I grabbed him by the throat.

Shoved him backward into the kitchen counter hard enough that something clattered to the floor. My voice came out raw. Ragged.

“Whose son is Finn?”

Lightning flashed-brief, harsh-throwing sharp shadows across both our faces.

“He’s a Hale,” Ronan said evenly, one elbow braced against the counter like we were having a casual conversation.

“Obviously he’s mine.”

“I asked who gave birth to him!” The words tore out of me-half scream, half sob.

“Ronan, what the hell is wrong with you?”

A single drop of water landed on his hand. Rain. Or maybe my tears. I couldn’t tell anymore.

“Bonding with you nearly destroyed me,” he said quietly. “I accept that. It was my mistake. No one else’s.”

“When I lost that pup, I accepted that too.” My voice cracked. I blinked hard, trying to keep my vision clear.

“But I’m asking you one last time. Who is Finn’s mother?”

“Aurora, you’re always like this.” Ronan sighed, his thumb brushing away a tear I didn’t realize had fallen.

“Always so stubborn. Never backing down.”

“If only you’d stayed the way you were in college,” he murmured.

“So dependent

Chapter 8

The sound echoed sharp and clean. My palm connected with his cheek before he could finish the sentence. His head snapped to the side, jaw

tight.

Then he turned back.

His hand caught my chin-rough, unforgiving-and pulled me in. His mouth crashed against mine with enough force to bruise.

His fingers dug into the back of my neck, pinning me against his chest.

The harder I fought, the deeper he kissed-like he was trying to swallow me whole.

Blood flooded my mouth. Metallic. Sharp. Our teeth scraped together.

I bit down hard enough to draw more.

Ronan hesitated-just for a second. Then he kissed me harder.

Rage ignited in my chest like wildfire. My whole body trembled with it.

I drove my knee upward with everything I had left.

He doubled over with a strangled groan. I grabbed a fistful of his sweat-damp hair and spat blood directly into his open mouth.

His eyes went wide-shocked, disbelieving. Before he could react, I spat again, this time across his face.

Silence.

Just the storm outside, pounding relentlessly against the windows. And our ragged breathing.

Ronan’s body slid down the counter slowly, like all his strength had drained out at once.

I stumbled back two shaky steps, barely keeping myself upright.

Ronan wiped his face. Then he laughed. Breathless. Unhinged.

“I knew it…”

“I knew it,” he rasped between fits of laughter. “I could never break you.”

“Aurora, I built you with my own hands. When we started Fenrir Core, you didn’t know a damn thing. You followed me everywhere, asking a thousand questions, and somehow I had the patience for it. I taught you everything.”

My chest heaved. I pressed one hand against the wall to steady myself.

“You were brilliant. And you worked harder than anyone. You grew too fast.” His gaze locked onto mine.

“Far too fast.”

“You were my m

“Wh

“That’s when I realized…” His voice dropped.

“I couldn’t control you anymore. My perfect creation was slipping away.”

The suffocating weight around my throat lifted slightly. I felt cold. Hollow.

“In the end.” I whispered, “you’re just another insecure man desperate to feel superior.”

“Yes.” Ronan laughed bitterly, “I didn’t love you. I didn’t love Elise. I only loved the version of you from college.”

“Don’t flatter yourself.” I sneered. “You only love yourself.”

Ronan went silent. Closed his eyes.

Through the pain. I forced the words out one more time.

“Who is Finn’s mother?”

He coughed weakly. “Haven’t you already figured it out…”

My phone rang.

Gavin’s voice crackled through-frantic, panicked.

“Aurora, Elise just went live! She’s publicly admitting she was the mistress who destroyed your bond!”
