Rejected By The Beta, Claimed By His Alpha Uncle novel Chapter 31

“Shhh.” Nina held up a finger, her tone light. “The less you talk, the less you embarrass yourself.”

Jenna stood there, lips pressed tight. Her wolf stirred uneasily beneath her skin, but she kept it caged. She couldn’t afford to shift, couldn’t afford to break. Not now.

Nina picked at her fruit lazily, chewing like a cat licking its claws. “Do wipe the corner. You’ve missed a spot,” she said, motioning to the floor beside her seat.

Jenna dropped to her knees, fists clenched tight as she wiped the spotless floor. She could feel Nina watching her, reveling in the sight.

“You know,” Nina said sweetly, “Ryker always did have a thing for broken girls from broken homes. Guess you’re just another one in the collection.”

“I wish we could just kill her,” Jenna’s wolf, Lexa, purred angrily but she ignored her.

By late afternoon, she found herself scrubbing the marble tiles outside the main hall when she heard Nina’s laughter.

It rang down the hallway like poisoned honey.

Jenna stiffened, trying to focus on the floor. But the heels drew closer.

Nina was basically everywhere and out to frustrate her.

“You missed a spot.”

Nina’s voice was sweet as wine and twice as cruel.

Jenna didn’t look up.

“Oh, don’t be shy. You’re not above us anymore, remember?”

Still, Jenna didn’t respond.

She wouldn’t give her that.

“You know,” Nina continued, circling her like a hawk. “You’re very brave. Still pretending you have dignity left. That takes… effort.”

Jenna kept scrubbing. She imagined it wasn’t Nina behind her. She imagined it was silence. That Ryker would walk down the hall any moment and say—I made a mistake.

But nothing came except more mockery.

“I’m shocked you haven’t bled from the shame yet,” Nina whispered. “But I guess people like you don’t feel it anymore, do you?”

Jenna froze. The stone brush in her hand scraped too loudly.

Nina clicked her tongue. “Tread lightly. You don’t want to lose more than your pride.”
