"Carter will investigate the matter for her. You don't need to trouble yourself," Raymond stated flatly, making his apathetic stance abundantly clear.
Emma was internally puzzled. Was Uncle Raymond not even curious about what information Percy had given her?
Or was he completely in the dark?
Emma pondered expressionlessly. If Raymond was clueless, why was it such a coincidence that all the Harrington family's local manpower in that area had been transferred away?
Could Pamela really have manipulated him?
"Don't be like that. She is the Harrington family's granddaughter-in-law, after all. Whoever dared to kidnap her clearly has no respect for the Harringtons. How can we just ignore it?"
Pamela spoke with profound righteousness, prompting Emma to slightly tilt her head down.
"But it's true I can't be of much help. Please, use the Harrington family's full resources to investigate this. You must get to the absolute bottom of it and not let them brush it off with a few random scapegoats."
Pamela reminded her with righteous indignation. Meeting her open and entirely transparent gaze, Emma couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
Had she been looking in the wrong direction this whole time?
Pamela certainly didn't look like someone harboring a guilty conscience.
"Yes, I will," Emma replied. It seemed she definitely needed to make a personal trip to Garrison City to find that hospital and track down that specific nurse.
At that moment, Carter walked over.
"Uncle Raymond, if there's nothing else, I'll be taking Emma back now," Carter stated politely.
Pamela gently urged, "She's injured so severely. Isn't traveling back and forth dangerous? Why don't you both stay at the main estate tonight? The maids have always kept your room clean."
Carter didn't dare make the decision on his own. He looked down at Emma, silently asking for her preference.
Emma pursed her lips.
"That sounds good. I'm honestly feeling a bit unwell."
