Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 19

Emma remembered her mother repeating the story numerous times: the accident had happened while they were vacationing in Garrison City.

Coincidentally, the Jennings family's pharmaceutical plant was located right near Garrison City.

Since Logan had arranged to meet her at the plant, she planned to use this opportunity to track down the hospital where her mother had the C-section and see if she could dig up any clues.

Emma waited for a long time before Logan finally showed up.

"Sorry, flight delay." Logan handed her a packed meal. "Picked this up on the way."

Emma stared at the bland, unappetizing airline meal, keeping her arms crossed and not moving an inch.

"Eat it here. Listen while you eat. I'm in a rush."

Logan didn't even bother looking up to check her reaction. He just gave his watch a hurried glance before instantly pulling a document out of his briefcase.

"Share transfer agreement. If there are no issues, sign it."

Emma gave him a half-smile. "So you didn't bring me food because you thought I'd be hungry after waiting so long. You just did it so I couldn't use eating as an excuse to waste your time?"

"Gillian told me about everything that's been happening at home lately. She yields to you, but that doesn't mean the Lockwood family still recognizes you. You need to accept your current status. You shouldn't stubbornly hold onto what rightfully belongs to her."

Logan adjusted his glasses with a slender finger, a sharp edge cutting through his usually refined aura.

Emma scoffed. "She yields to me?"

Did yielding mean throwing a glass of wine in her face at her engagement party?

Or did it mean acting like a rabid dog, chasing and biting her wherever she went?

"Mom didn't want to ruin your relationship with Percy, so she kept your identity a secret from the public and rarely explained who Gillian really was. Gillian has suffered enough grievances over the years. As a decent human being, you should know how to repay our kindness."

Logan pushed the contract toward her and tapped it firmly, his implication clear as day.

Emma stood up and tossed the cold airline meal straight into the trash can.

"You all know perfectly well whether this is really about repaying kindness, or because you don't want to lose the Harrington marriage alliance."
