"That's none of your business! All you need to do is be a good little girl and sign over the shares!"
Gillian frowned, her voice rising with sudden urgency.
Emma, however, looked calmly at Logan. "Do you feel the same way, Logan?"
"Yes," Logan replied coldly.
Emma set the contract back down. "Alright. I can sign it. But didn't you forget something?"
Logan narrowed his eyes at her. Emma squinted back, her lips curling into a mocking smirk. "I hold thirty percent of this pharmaceutical plant's shares. I am the largest shareholder. Asking me to transfer my shares requires a lot more than just this single transfer agreement. You need to convene a board of directors, have all the shareholders sign off on it, and provide a legitimate, legal reason for the transfer."
"The fact that you aren't a Lockwood daughter is reason enough!" Gillian shrieked furiously.
That actually made Emma laugh. "Where is the proof?"
Gillian froze for a second before the realization hit her.
"You just want a paternity test? Fine! You just wait!"
Gillian spun around and ran out of the office. Logan watched her go with concern and immediately ordered his assistant to follow her.
Then, he snatched the equity transfer contract right out from under Emma's nose.
"Is this what you learned after spending all those years abroad? How to scheme for other people's family assets?"
Logan's ruthless words revealed a hint of unexpected vulnerability in Emma's eyes.
She smiled brightly at him. "I never imagined you'd become so venomous after six years apart."
Logan frowned deeply. Her words made his heart skip a beat, but the moment he remembered how frail and sickly Gillian looked when she first arrived at the Lockwood estate, his gaze darkened once more.
"Even if you manage to stick around a little longer, Percy is never going to marry you again. The only person he should, and can, marry is Gillian."
