Emma remained silent while her assistant pulled out the certificate.
It was an international award for her painting, clearly bearing both the names Cecelia and Emma Lockwood.
Gillian's face turned ashen, and it suddenly hit Logan that the artwork on display looked incredibly similar to Emma's past pieces.
"Does that mean you know Dori too?"
Gillian scrutinized Emma, who simply raised an eyebrow. "Take a guess."
Phoebe pressed her lips together, swallowing the words she had prepared to ask for an introduction.
"No way, Mom rented this entire place for me! I can kick you out whenever I want!"
Gillian yelled defensively, which only made Emma laugh out loud.
"Which mom? I had no idea my husband had a daughter as old as you."
Hearing this, Carter walked over and stood right behind Emma, a silent pillar of support.
Gillian froze and turned to Percy. "Percy, what is going on?"
"I don't know who booked the venue," Percy admitted, equally confused, though his attention was entirely fixated on Emma.
They had been together for so many years, yet he realized he knew absolutely nothing about her.
He had never paid attention to her daily life, never knew she studied medicine, and certainly didn't know she made a living selling paintings.
Gillian went pale. Was it really not their mother who had rented the place?
Carter didn't say a word. He simply sent a text to Jeff, and within moments, the digital displays outside changed.
Gillian's phone exploded with a flurry of notification chimes. She checked the screen, grinding her teeth so hard her jaw ached.
[Wow, so Carter Harrington booked the whole venue for Emma Lockwood!]
[That fake Lockwood heiress earlier was so full of herself.]
[They both have the same last name and both date a Harrington, but the difference in status is night and day.]
[I'm so curious about this Emma. To be loved by Carter, she must be incredible, right?]
When Gillian had gotten her VIP pass that morning, she had bragged on social media that The Pagoda was lit up just for her, telling her followers to keep a low profile.
Now that Carter had publicly displayed Emma's full name, the internet instantly began mocking Gillian for stealing the spotlight.
Furious, Gillian threw her phone. "Phoebe, let's go! It's just a stupid art exhibition. Who cares!"
Who would she sell the painting to?
"Then it's yours."
Emma smiled warmly at the foreign man and thanked him. "I really appreciate your admiration for my work."
Logan glanced at the canvas, a pang of regret in his eyes.
He should have known. The painting was a scene from Garrison, yet he hadn't recognized it.
"Emma, I recognize it now. You painted—"
"It's nothing."
Emma's gaze darkened as she coldly cut off whatever Logan was about to say.
That street under the lamplight was where she used to buy ice cream, and it was the road her oldest brother had walked with her the most in Garrison.
Logan had liked it without recognizing it, only making the connection after she revealed herself as the artist.
Since that was the case, what point was there in talking about it?
"If you'd like to buy something else, feel free. But this one... I've already sold it to someone else."
