Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 251

When leaving the testing center, Emma Lockwood felt a little dazed.

She hadn't expected the matter she cared about most since returning to the country to be resolved so easily.

"The results will take a while. Come grab a bite to eat with me," Violet said, coughing lightly.

Emma nodded. "What do you want to eat?"

"Anything is fine. I just want to talk to you a bit more."

Violet looked at Emma, guilt hidden in her eyes. "Logan told me a couple of days ago that you've had a really hard time abroad these past few years."

Logan had privately investigated Emma's life abroad and shown the file to Violet.

Since reading it, Violet had been filled with regret. Perhaps she should have told Emma the truth back then; at least she wouldn't have been in life-threatening danger domestically.

This belated understanding didn't stir much emotion in Emma.

She simply replied in a flat tone, "It's all in the past."

"You are exceptional. Much more exceptional than Gillian." Violet pressed her lips together. The more true this was, the more she felt she owed Gillian.

If Gillian had received a good education and resources from a young age, would she be as outstanding as Emma?

Emma saw through her thoughts and remained silent.

At the restaurant, Emma carefully ordered a few dishes that Violet could eat.

"Eat more. You're too thin," Violet said, placing food on Emma's plate. "You're much thinner than when you first went abroad."

Emma lowered her eyes, her mind solely occupied with the DNA test.

"When the results come out... if they aren't what you hoped for, will you go abroad?" Violet asked cautiously.

Emma looked at her. Perhaps her gaze was too cold, because Violet hurriedly explained, "That's not what I meant. It's just that Gillian's test was done under our supervision back then. There's no way it could be wrong."

Violet was utterly stunned. How could this be?

The hospital staff had clearly told her she only gave birth to one child back then.

"Is there a mistake? Why don't you test it again?"

The man from the testing center hadn't left yet. He shook his head. "To prevent any errors, we also ran a test comparing Ms. Emma Lockwood and Ms. Gillian Lockwood's samples. The two of them definitely share a blood connection as well."

Emma stood frozen in place, staring at those stamped words. For a moment, she didn't know how to process it.

She really was a daughter of the Lockwood family. She had always thought that if she wasn't biologically theirs, how could she have visited the hospital so many times without any doctor noticing an anomaly?

But who exactly hid the truth? Who instructed the doctors and nurses during that surgery to steal Gillian and cover up the fact that they were twins?

"But Emma and Gillian don't look alike at all. Aren't twins supposed to look exactly the same?"
