Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 295

Emma walked out of the room, clearly distracted.

Phoebe's words had sunk in.

Since she returned, too many people had died because of her pursuit of the truth.

Kyle Yardley, Darren Yates, Brenda Yates...

Murdered, bribed, deceived.

Now even Violet was lying in a hospital bed, unconscious.

Emma's resolve wavered.

"What's wrong?"

Carter's concerned gaze fell on her. Ever since leaving the hospital, he felt something was off with Emma.

Emma snapped back to reality and shook her head. "It's nothing."

The two of them decided to put the matters in Garrison City on hold and head straight back to Capital City.

Not long after they left the hospital, Gillian went to visit Phoebe as well.

"It must hurt a lot, right?"

Gillian looked sympathetically at the wound on her abdomen.

"If I knew you'd get hurt, I never would have let you go see Emma."

Phoebe lowered her eyes. "I brought this on myself for trying to be brave."

"Did you guys make up?" Gillian asked.

A flash of desolation crossed Phoebe's eyes. Not only had they not made up, but their relationship seemed worse than ever.

Gillian's mind worked quickly. "Owen York and Sylvia Moore's engagement was called off."

Phoebe looked at her in surprise, her eyes filled with disbelief.

The two of them had been betrothed since childhood. How could it be canceled so easily?

"I just told him about how Sylvia made things difficult for you, and right after that, their engagement was broken. I also let him know you got hurt."

Gillian took Phoebe's hand and said, "I just hope you get everything you want."

"Phoebe and I are good friends; spending a little money on you is nothing. Go have fun. If you run out, I'll transfer more."

Gillian smiled, looking harmless and sweet. Miriam happily accepted the money.

"I'll head back to Capital City in a bit to pack my things."

Gillian watched her with a smile, but the moment she stepped into the elevator and the doors closed, her expression instantly turned freezing cold.

A ruthless glint shone in her icy gaze.

Since Emma valued her relationships so highly, Gillian would forge the very things Emma cared about into a sharp blade and plunge it straight into her heart.

She would make Emma realize just how excruciating the price for hurting her mother truly was.

Gillian took the elevator down to the underground parking garage. After confirming no one was around, she made a call.

"I'll send you someone's information shortly. She'll be arriving at the local airport the day after tomorrow. Let her have fun around town for a couple of days first."

Gillian finished speaking and gently curled her lips into a smile.

"Then snatch her."
