Rejected Heiress, Reigning Queen novel Chapter 300

Emma stared at the disconnected call and let out an exasperated laugh.

"Idiot."

She rarely cursed. The word caught Julian's attention. He frowned slightly and was about to step out when Emma walked in.

"Julian, something came up at Timothy's club. I need to go handle it."

After saying that, she looked somewhat sheepishly at Carter's parents, unsure of what to say given the timing.

"Carter, go with Emma. After all... it's not safe for a girl to go alone."

Carter's mother had originally wanted to say that bars and clubs were chaotic places, but remembering that it was owned by Emma's friend, she opted for a more tactful approach.

"I'll see Carter's parents off in a bit. You go ahead," Julian said, though he couldn't help but add one last reminder. "Take care of yourself."

Emma nodded and got into the car with Carter.

During the ride, Emma gave Carter a brief rundown of the situation, then let out a dismissive laugh. "Tyler really is an idiot. He thinks stirring up some shady scandal at the club is enough to threaten Timothy's domestic operations."

Carter, however, felt a nagging sense that something was wrong.

"Tyler isn't bright, that's true, but he's also just a straightforward meathead. Don't you think this tactic is far too vicious for him?"

Emma looked at him, and Carter continued,

"Timothy has always been deeply invested in your well-being. Before he left, he definitely would have ordered his people not to bother you unless it was an absolute emergency."

Emma nodded. That sounded exactly like the kind of instructions Timothy would leave.

"With so many wealthy elites involved, if the club staff called you, it means they've confirmed the threat is real. I highly doubt Sylvia and her crowd would coordinate a stunt like this just for show. That means they genuinely were recorded."

Emma narrowed her eyes. "Are you saying that even if Tyler had malicious intent, he wouldn't be capable of thinking up something like this?"

She truly didn't think Tyler was smart; a guy who would openly insult Carter's wife to his face was fully capable of doing any manner of stupid things.

"Emma, you remember what happened to Levi, right?"

Chase chimed in from the front seat. Emma's eyes darkened. Last time, the mastermind had tried a similar tactic to destroy CFT's reputation.

"What happened to Levi?" Carter frowned. Was there something he didn't know?

Seeing that Emma didn't stop him, Chase explained how Tobias had set a trap for Raymond.

"We aren't looking for him. I'm treating you to cake."

Emma said as she took out her phone again, dialing the club's number.

The moment the staff member answered, Emma confirmed that Sylvia was still on the scene, then decisively ordered them to put her on speaker.

"Sylvia. If Tyler is also in those videos, just have him get his tech team to deal with it. It'll be a piece of cake for them.

If he's not in them, or if he refuses to help you, then why exactly is he hanging around with you right now?"

Dead silence greeted her over the line. After a long moment, Tyler finally swore.

"Emma, stop trying to drive a wedge between us! Do you think our tech team can just magically erase everything?"

Emma curled her lips, her smile deepening.

"A technology company without high-end tech personnel. Tsk. Looks like there was a very good reason Harrington Corporation canceled your partnership. Well, since his employees can't fix it, what a coincidence—mine can."

"Sylvia, come find me at Ciel Cafe. Making things difficult for the staff won't do you any good. Relax. As long as our negotiations don't fall apart, not a single photo—let alone a video—will ever see the light of day."
