Carter could barely hide his grin at Emma's sudden, adorable plea for protection.
"Finish your food. I'll take care of this."
He gently guided Emma back into her seat before turning his lethal gaze onto Evelyn.
"Coming into our home to bully Emma... Evelyn, do you actually think I have a good temper?"
A terrifying, freezing chill danced in Carter's eyes. Stuart immediately barked, "Carter, don't forget what your last name is!"
"Stuart, I suggest you remember your own."
Carter lifted his gaze lazily, laying out two options.
"I can arrange a job for her."
He threw a sideways glance at Tessa. Evelyn immediately beamed. "I knew you would look out for family, Carter! A job is perfect. I can handle her living arrangements myself."
"I can arrange her housing as well."
Carter's tone was entirely apathetic, but Evelyn's smile only grew wider. "Oh, that is wonderful! Tessa will be needing a lot of your guidance from now on."
She shot a triumphant look at Emma. At the end of the day, Carter still had to obey his elders, didn't he?
"I'm afraid you and Stuart will be the ones looking after her."
Evelyn froze the second the words left Carter's mouth. "What do you mean?"
"There are some excellent design firms overseas. Percy owns property over there, and Stuart happens to run a subsidiary branch in the same area. You can all move out there together."
With just a few casual words, he was actively exiling their entire branch of the family out of the country.
Stuart panicked. "I'm your uncle! You're kicking me out of the country?"
"You're my uncle, but don't forget, I am the absolute head of the Harrington family."
Carter's eyes were pitch-black. Twirling a beaded bracelet around his fingers, he spoke with an effortless, yet crushing dominance. "The Harrington family's overseas operations need expanding. I'll explain everything to my grandfather. I'll even book your flights for you."
Stuart and Evelyn were instantly thrown into a panic. They couldn't leave! If they left, who would pave the way for their son's inheritance?
"Or do I need to transfer Percy out there as well? We do have several projects that require an international liaison."
Carter didn't mind tossing Percy a few dead-end projects just to get rid of him.
Now Evelyn was completely terrified.
Emma watched him quietly. He took huge bites but chewed with elegant precision. He certainly didn't look like someone who hated the food.
"But are you really planning to thank me with just a single meal?"
Carter was thrilled with the food, but far from satisfied overall.
He felt entirely entitled to demand a much better reward.
Emma tilted her head at him. "Then how many meals does Mr. Harrington want?"
Carter suddenly remembered the paintings he had confiscated from Tristan, and an idea struck him.
"Once your time of the month passes, clear your schedule for three days. You're coming with me to a certain place."
Emma looked confused. "Where exactly are we going that requires waiting until...?"
A few wildly inappropriate thoughts suddenly popped into her head.
Carter cleared his throat. Rather than stating it outright, he answered with a dangerously seductive undertone,
"A place that requires a lot of intense physical stamina."
