When the exhibition concluded, Emma left the hall in high spirits, chatting and laughing.
Gillian and Tristan wore twisted expressions, still fuming by the time they returned home.
"That damn Emma! Our family is in the middle of a massive crisis, and she's out there flaunting her wealth for everyone to see!"
Hearing the commotion, Charles and Beatrice walked over to ask what had happened.
When Gillian recounted the events at the auto show, Beatrice slapped her thigh in agitation. "That wretched girl must have drained our accounts!"
Gillian thought that made perfect sense and nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Otherwise, how could a mere cleaner afford a multimillion-dollar supercar? Keep dreaming."
Hearing about a car worth millions, Charles felt a surge of resentment. He glared furiously at Violet. "Exactly how much money did you give her?"
Violet shrank back timidly. She didn't know the exact amount herself, but she knew it definitely wasn't enough to buy a car like that.
"If Emma wants a bank statement, then give it to her!"
The Lockwoods were desperate for cash. With Lockwood Pharma facing investigations, the entire Lockwood Group was taking a hit and desperately needed liquid funds.
If Emma had truly used their money to buy that car, they were going to make her cough it up.
"I only sent her money a few times during her first two years abroad. After that, she stopped asking, and I..."
Violet lowered her head in guilt. She had worried about Emma during those first two years. But later, whenever she brought Emma up, Gillian would fly into a rage.
Over time, she stopped reaching out to check on Emma.
"We still need to get that money back!" Gillian stood up angrily. "Do you have any idea how much she humiliated me today?"
It was a hundred times worse than the time she had been slapped in public!
Inside the CFT Corporation headquarters.
Emma sat in her office, seamlessly juggling her workload while talking on the phone.
"The girl among them... kept saying something about you being a cleaner."
The secretary was terrified. When their CEO was at the main headquarters, the other executives practically tripped over themselves to serve her.
He couldn't even fathom her working as a cleaner.
"Ignore them. If they want to wait, let them."
Emma didn't even bother explaining. She had absolutely nothing to say to the Lockwoods.
If Violet hadn't cried so pitifully last time, she wouldn't have even bothered helping Charles.
Gillian managed to hold her temper for thirty minutes before her patience snapped.
"Emma, get out here right now! You thief! You stole millions from our family to show off with a luxury car, and now you're too scared to show your face?"
