Violet hurried into the lobby surrounded by reporters, desperately trying to pull Gillian away.

Gillian stubbornly refused, her voice ringing out fiercely. "Mom, you don't need to save Emma's face! You know exactly how she treated me!"

Caught in the middle, Violet could only look pleadingly at Emma.

"Emma, this is a family matter. Let's discuss this in private."

Emma stared at her coolly. The rest of the Lockwoods might not have known how much money she actually sent, but Violet knew perfectly well.

"And if I refuse?"

Emma's response plunged Violet into sheer panic.

She truly hadn't expected such a massive media presence.

Once the bank statements were revealed, Gillian would be thoroughly humiliated.

Glancing around nervously, Violet finally lowered her voice. "The money I gave you in the past was my own choice. You don't need to pay it back."

Emma let out a dark chuckle, the biting sarcasm evident to everyone in the room.

Except for one person, standing in an inconspicuous corner, whose gaze was filled with a deep, lingering heartache.

"Mom! How long are you going to keep protecting Emma?"

Gillian, assuming Violet was just playing favorites, threw an even bigger tantrum.

Unable to explain herself clearly, Violet tried to soothe her. "Gillian, Emma didn't have it easy abroad these past few years. Just let it go..."

"She didn't have it easy? No matter how hard it was, she still had you sending her money! What about me?! I'm your biological daughter, and where were you when I was begging on the streets!"

Gillian was hysterical with rage and grief. She couldn't understand why her mother favored this fake imposter.

Emma walked over, her expression icy and completely detached.

"That's fine. If Violet won't show the bank statements, I have a copy right here."

She pulled out the bank transaction records she had printed herself.

"All the transfer details are right here. Read them yourselves."

She sat back down on the sofa, her posture impeccable. She radiated a freezing, unapproachable aura, keeping everyone at a distance.
