Hearing the question, Jabez simply arched a brow.

He didn't say yes, and he didn't say no.

Yvette instantly understood. The Huxleys being here was something Jabez had permitted.

Just like he permitted Willow to casually stroll in and out of his office. Permitted her to rifle through his phone. Permitted the Huxley family to snatch up projects that rightfully belonged to the Yeats.

A sudden, bone-deep exhaustion washed over her.

Right now, all she wanted was to cut the cord cleanly and go back to the quiet, stable life she had before this sham of a marriage.

She just wanted to protect the Yeats family and the child growing inside her.

As for Jabez Shelby? She had stopped wanting him a long time ago.

"Jabez, since you and Willow are so deeply in love, I'm willing to divorce you. I'll give up the title of Mrs. Shelby. As long as you agree, we can head to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow and finalize the paperwork."

"But on one condition. You stop interfering with the business between the Yeats family and the Huxleys. You don't lay a finger on my family in the corporate world."

Yvette stared straight into Jabez's eyes, her cold, resolute reflection captured in his dark pupils.

Sensing the hand at her waist tighten its grip, she pressed her lips into a thin line.

"As you wish," Jabez spat out the words, his voice freezing over. "But I'll be drafting a new divorce agreement."

Yvette blinked, momentarily stunned that he had actually agreed.

The original divorce agreement had been crystal clear: she was walking away with absolutely nothing. Did Jabez not even agree to that?

"Fine," Yvette nodded. As long as he was on board, she didn't mind waiting a few extra days. "Just don't make your terms too ridiculous."

Jabez's brow furrowed slightly before relaxing. "Fine."

The music faded out. Yvette cleanly slipped her hand from his and walked away without so much as a backward glance.

Jabez stared after her, his gaze turning dark and heavy. A few seconds later, he stepped off the floor to follow her.

Helen had watched their entire interaction on the dance floor, grinning so hard her cheeks hurt.

Meanwhile, Wynne Farrell watched the two of them with a disdainful scoff.

Seeing how much Sybil loved it brought a genuine smile to Yvette's face. With gentle hands, she fastened the necklace around the older woman's neck.

In the crowd, Willow stared at Yvette standing proudly by Sybil's side, her eyes burning with sheer envy.

Her fingernails dug so hard into her palms they nearly drew blood.

Finally, it was the Huxleys' turn to present their gift.

Quentin Huxley hurried forward with his family in tow.

"Mrs. Shelby." Willow stepped up, playing the picture of a dutiful, sweet girl as she held out a rectangular velvet box.

Zelma, standing behind Sybil, reached out to accept it with a polite smile.

But at the main table, the moment Helen caught sight of Quentin and Rhonda Yarrow, a violent surge of anger rushed to her head.

Sybil, instantly picking up on her oldest friend's distress, paused. When she recognized Quentin, her expression turned to ice.

"I am not your grandmother. Watch how you address me, Ms. Huxley."
