Yvette frowned as she looked out the window.

"Ma'am, why don't you wait until the rain stops before you leave? They say there's going to be a severe storm today, and it's quite a drive to the Yeats' house. It's not safe."

"No, I should get going."

She and Jabez already had their finalized divorce papers; it wasn't appropriate for them to stay under the same roof.

"Ma'am, you've lived here for so many years. One more day won't make a difference."

Yvette hesitated.

Just then, her phone rang. It was Sybil.

"Yvette, there's going to be a torrential storm for the next few days. You and Jabez must not leave the house. Do you have enough food in the pantry?" Sybil asked with concern.

Lena nodded to confirm they did, and Yvette answered with a smile, "Grandma, we'll take good care of ourselves. Please don't worry about us."

Sybil thought about Jabez running around with Willow and her expression darkened. "Where's Jabez? Is he not home?"

Jabez, who had come downstairs without her noticing, suddenly plucked the phone right out of Yvette's hand upon hearing this.

"Grandma, I'm home."

Sybil chuckled warmly. "Take good care of Yvette."

"Understood."

Yvette knew he was only placating his grandmother, so she didn't comment on it.

She chatted with the older woman for a few more minutes.

Seeing that they were staying, Lena slipped into the kitchen to prepare dinner.

"Still not leaving?" Jabez stared at Yvette.

"Why aren't you leaving?"

"This is my house." Jabez sat down on the sofa with an air of complete entitlement, resting his chin on his hand as he watched her in amusement.

Yvette suddenly recalled the terms of their settlement agreement. Jabez had legally transferred this property to her.

She was the sole owner of this estate now.

Taking her time, she strolled over to a single armchair, sat down, and raised a challenging brow.

"Didn't you sign this house over to me in the agreement? Did you forget, Mr. Shelby?"
