Outside the car, the man aggressively yanked at the door handles, flying into a rage as he started looking for something sharp to smash the glass.

That was the exact scene Matthew walked into when he arrived. His face went terrifyingly cold.

He threw a brutal kick straight into the back of the man's knees. The man let out a howl of pain and crashed heavily onto the pavement.

He started spitting out a stream of foul obscenities. Unable to contain his rage, Matthew delivered another ruthless kick.

The man groaned in agony again. Realizing he had messed with the wrong guy, he shut his mouth, glaring up at Matthew with venomous eyes.

"Get the hell out of here before I call the cops."

Knowing he was in the wrong, the man didn't dare linger and scrambled away as fast as he could.

Matthew watched him disappear before stepping up and tapping lightly on the window. "Yvette, it's me."

Trembling uncontrollably, Yvette unlocked the doors, terror still swirling in her eyes.

"Yvette, are you okay?" Matthew asked, his face etched with worry.

"I'm fine... just terrified."

She genuinely hadn't expected someone to do something so completely unhinged.

As Matthew helped her out, he could feel her whole body shaking. She was completely limp, stripped of all her strength.

To prevent anyone from recognizing her face, he took off his suit jacket, draped it over her head, and scooped her up into his arms.

He quickly carried her to the elevator and headed upstairs.

She was in a terrible state, and Matthew couldn't bring himself to leave her alone. He had his assistant drop off a change of clothes and spent the night in the guest room.

A black Maybach sat parked downstairs until the early hours of the morning.

That night, Yvette slept fitfully, her brows knitted together in distress as nightmares plagued her.

She dreamt Matthew hadn't arrived in time, and the crazed fan had wrenched her door open and violently dragged her out. She jolted awake in a cold sweat.

Yvette got up to wash her face and bumped into Matthew coming out of his room.

"Morning, Matthew."

"Morning," Matthew said. "I'm going to take the elevator down and scope things out first. Once I make sure it's safe, I'll come back up to get you."

"Okay."
