Milton's location was quite close to the Sutton residence, only a fifteen-minute drive away.
It was immediately obvious that he had dressed up for the occasion.
Yvette didn't overthink it; wanting to look good was simply human nature.
Nola spotted Yvette first and called out in sheer delight, "Yvette!"
A genuine smile rippled across Yvette's lips. "Hey there."
"What does Nola want to play today? I'll join you."
"I want to go on the boats!"
Yvette hesitated for a split second before agreeing. "Alright, I'll go with you."
Milton caught that fleeting moment of hesitation and asked, "Don't want to go?"
"I don't know how to swim, so I'm a little afraid of the water," Yvette admitted somewhat sheepishly.
Nola thought about it for two seconds before saying thoughtfully, "If you're scared of the water, Yvette, then we don't have to ride the boats."
Milton nodded in agreement. "If you don't want to go, we won't. Nola can play with something else."
"It's fine," Yvette shook her head.
If it hadn't been for Milton during the terrifying incident with Derek Creed, she wouldn't even be standing here today.
Besides, it was just a boat ride—no one was forcing her to swim.
"Don't force yourself if you don't want to," Nola said, sounding exactly like a little adult.
"I'm really okay."
Yvette got into Milton's car, and they made their way to the lake.
The weather was perfect—not too cold, not too hot. The area was bustling with people, mostly parents out with their children.
With Nola holding Yvette's hand on one side and Milton's on the other, they looked the picture-perfect family of three.
Coupled with the fact that all three of them were exceptionally good-looking, they quickly drew the admiring stares of passersby.
Milton crouched down to secure a life jacket on Nola before strapping on his own.
Yvette put hers on and stood to the side, waiting.
The surface of the lake sparkled under the sunlight, small ripples dancing whenever the breeze swept past.
