Trent patted his chest proudly. "Mr. Sutton, I can personally vouch for Willow's talent. One of her restored paintings went for fifty million at an auction. That alone is proof of her skill."
Jabez spoke up. "I'm willing to donate eighty million to the Azure Atelier, on the condition that Willow is given a senior restorer position with absolute creative freedom."
He purposely said 'donate', not 'invest'. An investment demanded returns.
A donation was purely a gift.
Matthew spat in his mind. Yvette gave him seven years and never saw a dime of that eighty million.
Yet he threw cash at his mistress without blinking.
Even Trent, knowing how much Jabez adored Willow, was stunned by the sheer scale of the gesture.
Throwing away eighty million for a woman was something he could never do.
"I'm not like you, Mr. Shelby. I don't have absolute power," Matthew said, feigning difficulty. "I don't make the decisions alone. Charlotte would never agree."
Seeing him waver, Willow thought there was still a chance.
"Mr. Sutton, could you perhaps introduce me to the master restorer Raine? Jabez would happily donate the eighty million for that, too."
A meaningful glimmer flashed in Matthew's eyes.
Oh, how he would love to see her face if she found out the idol she was desperately trying to meet was actually Yvette.
"Raine is off the grid. Even I don't know where she is."
Willow frowned.
Accepting an assistant role at the atelier was beneath her.
With her flawless resume, she sat at the pinnacle of her field. Moreover, she was a daughter of the Huxley family and Jabez's public girlfriend.
If word got out to high society that she was working as a mere assistant, she'd be the laughingstock of the city.
Since Charlotte was Yvette's best friend, she would block Willow no matter what she tried.
That was why her ultimate goal had always been Raine, not just the studio itself.
Willow nodded in agreement; she had noticed it too.
Jabez merely raised an eyebrow, staying silent.
Spotting Yvette sitting in the lobby, Matthew faltered for a second before striding over. He pulled her up from the chair. "Let's go, let's go."
Yvette smiled faintly. "What's the rush? Is a dog chasing you?"
Matthew nodded rapidly, grabbing her shoulders and steering her toward the door. "Hurry up, lunch is on me."
Behind them, Jabez and the other two stopped in their tracks.
Trent stared at the intimate pair with a bizarre expression. With Matthew's hands on her shoulders, it looked almost as if he were embracing her.
"Ms. Yeats and Mr. Sutton are much closer than we thought," Willow commented casually.
Trent recovered from his shock. "Jabez, aren't you guys still married? And she's out here blatantly looking for her next meal ticket?"
