Willow was holding a towel, gently drying her wet hair. She was wearing Jabez's oversized black dress shirt, the loose fabric barely covering her slender, flawless legs.
What exactly one had to do in an office to require a shower afterward went without saying.-
Willow was already pregnant, yet they were still...
In an instant, Yvette froze entirely, all the color draining from her face as the blood rushed to her ears.
Seeing her walk in, Willow looked momentarily surprised before a faint, knowing smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. "Are you Jabez's secretary?"
Before Yvette could even formulate a response, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed behind her.
Jabez strode into the office, casually shutting the door behind him.
Yvette turned slightly, catching the deliberate motion. He probably didn't want anyone else out there catching a glimpse of Willow looking so gorgeous and alluring. So the famously cold and ruthless Jabez Shelby was capable of getting jealous?
Jabez furrowed his brow, his voice chillingly thin. "Who told you to come in here?"
"She just brought my coffee. I asked Corbin for one earlier," Willow said, wrapping her arms intimately around Jabez's bicep.
The freezing tension on Jabez's face instantly softened. But his voice was still laced with an unthawing ice when he looked back. "Don't let it happen again."
Yvette pressed her lips together tightly, offering no explanation. She knew perfectly well that no matter what she said, Jabez wouldn't believe her anyway.
Since that was the case, she might as well stay silent.
Setting the coffee down on the desk, Yvette turned and walked right out of the office.
Corbin was returning with a stack of files and saw Yvette stepping out of the CEO's office. His face immediately darkened.
"Ms. Yeats, I never said you should personally deliver that coffee into Mr. Shelby's office. I'd appreciate it if you didn't barge in there without permission in the future. Ms. Huxley will be frequenting the company a lot more from now on. I highly advise you to stop parading yourself in front of them. Ms. Huxley is the apple of Mr. Shelby's eye. If you upset her, Mr. Shelby will not let you off the hook."
Yvette's stare at Corbin was dead cold. "I'll be submitting my formal resignation shortly. Please find someone to take over my duties as soon as possible."
With that, she completely ignored Corbin's utterly stunned expression and walked away.
Corbin stared after Yvette's retreating figure in absolute disbelief.
Jabez and Willow didn't spare Yvette a single glance, ignoring her existence entirely.
As Yvette ordered takeout for lunch, a notification popped up at the top of her phone screen.
*A prestigious centennial museum exhibition.*
This was a once-in-a-century event where the museum would display its most prized historical artifacts, including private pieces that were practically never shown to the public.
The event was primarily aimed at major corporate conglomerates to foster sponsorships and partnerships. The museum had top-tier restoration talent, but commercializing the exhibits required massive corporate funding.
Yvette let out a soft sigh.
A few years ago, the museum would have proactively sent her VIP tickets to something of this caliber. But now, she had been out of the antique restoration circle for nearly seven years.
Just as she was lost in thought, her phone buzzed with a call from Charlotte.
"Yvette, you saw the news about the museum gala this weekend, right? Our studio, the Azure Atelier, got two tickets. You and Matthew should go represent us."
