Yvette bit her lip nervously. "Won't the other team members at the Azure Atelier have a problem with that?"
"You're going as my personal representative, who's going to say a damn word?" Charlotte scoffed. "Besides, even if I went, I wouldn't know what I'm looking at. Better to just give the ticket to you."
"But Matthew probably won't want to see me."
Yvette had chosen to walk away and marry Jabez right when the Azure Atelier had started making a massive name for itself. Since then, the studio's operations had been completely managed by Charlotte and Matthew.
Matthew had practically begged Yvette not to quit, telling her that even if she got married, she could still stay active in the industry. But Yvette, desperately wanting to build a real relationship with Jabez, had decisively turned her back on her passion and joined the Shelby Group.
The two of them hadn't spoken since.
"As long as you're willing to come back to the Azure Atelier, none of that matters."
Yvette nodded firmly, a bright spark returning to her eyes. "Okay. I'll definitely be at the exhibition."
They chatted for a couple more minutes before hanging up.
...
The second the clock hit the end of the workday, Yvette started packing up her desk.
Ms. Zeller poked her head over curiously. "Ms. Yeats, you're not staying late today?"
She had been at the company for six months and had never once seen Yvette leave on time.
Yvette offered a soft smile. "I won't be working late anymore."
Just as she said that, Corbin tossed a massive stack of files onto Yvette's desk. "Last-minute request. Take care of this, Ms. Yeats."
Before Yvette could even respond, Corbin was already walking back toward his own office.
Yvette glanced at the files. In the past, she would have been genuinely thrilled to do this. Because it meant she could help Jabez. But now, she just felt incredibly annoyed.
Yvette stared at Corbin's back and called out, "Corbin."
Hearing her voice, Corbin turned around, a look of mild confusion in his eyes.
"It's the end of the workday. I have no obligation to work off the clock for free."
Yvette slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out, completely ignoring Corbin's jaw-dropping shock.
It took him a long moment to snap out of it.
Corbin looked at Willow, then looked at Jabez.
Jabez kept his head down and said flatly, "Do what Willow says."
Corbin had a 'knew it' look plastered across his face.
Exactly as he thought. Whatever Ms. Huxley wanted, Mr. Shelby would give her unconditionally.
He scoffed internally. A dirty, manipulative woman like Yvette wasn't even fit to shine Ms. Huxley's shoes!
...
Meanwhile, Yvette had returned to the villa.
After seven years of marriage, Yvette had surprisingly little to take with her. Her clothes and all the items in her study fit perfectly into just three suitcases.
"Ma'am, what's all this?" Lena walked upstairs, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Yvette packing.
"Business trip." Yvette's face was completely serene, acting as if it were just an ordinary day.
