Then, noticing that Yvette’s figure felt somewhat softer and curvier than before, a flicker of confusion crossed his eyes.

“Get off,” Yvette snapped, rushing him, terrified he might notice something about her condition.

He smoothly rolled out of bed and strode directly into the bathroom.

What just happened forced Yvette’s mind to race.

The sheer shock on his face when he realized the woman in his arms was her… it felt like…

Like he had been expecting to hold someone else.

It didn't take a genius to figure it out. The only person he would naturally expect to wake up holding was Willow.

Had they already reached the point where sleeping beside each other was second nature?

Yvette’s expression darkened.

Nobody likes realizing they were just used as a stand-in.

She walked into the closet, changed into a comfortable dress, and sat on the sofa to wait for him to finish showering.

Ten minutes later, Jabez walked out in a loosely tied bathrobe, revealing his sculpted collarbones and the hard lines of his chest.

If any other woman saw him looking this sinfully gorgeous, they would probably swoon.

Yvette merely threw him a passing glance before looking away.

By the time she emerged from the room again, he was already gone.

Heading downstairs, she caught sight of his back just as he was walking out the front door.

Sybil bustled over, grinning so wide it looked like her cheeks might crack.

“Yvette, I specifically had the staff check upstairs last night. They saw Jabez walk into the master bedroom with their own eyes.” She wiggled both thumbs enthusiastically. “So, how did things progress last night?”

Yvette felt a wave of helpless exhaustion. “Grandma, Jabez and I are perfectly fine the way we are. Please stop pushing him. If you push too hard, it’ll just backfire and push him away.”

Sybil paused, a look of sudden realization dawning on her face.

“Ah, I see. I won’t do it again.”

Yvette nodded. As long as she could get the old woman to drop her matchmaking schemes, it was a win.

Otherwise, this was only going to get infinitely more complicated.

Matthew turned to look at Yvette, only to see her let out a sharp, cold scoff before walking off to find her assigned station.

Matthew threw a mild, unimpressed glance at the couple. “Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Huxley brings to the table.”

“Don't worry, Mr. Sutton. I fully intend to prove my skills,” Willow replied with a smile, practically overflowing with confidence.

What happened at the Azure Atelier was just a fluke. This time, she was going to prove her worth and force Matthew to see her true value.

Once she won him over to her side, Yvette would be left with absolutely nothing.

Matthew gave a curt nod, exchanged a brief greeting with Jabez, and walked over to the station right next to Yvette’s.

Their tables were positioned side by side.

Willow’s brow furrowed slightly.

With Yvette standing right next to Matthew, he was bound to secretly guide her through the process.

It looked like she might just scrape through the preliminaries after all.

Whatever. Passing the first round didn't mean anything. When the finals rolled around, Willow was absolutely certain Yvette wouldn't be able to fake her way through.
