The next day.

During the doctor's rounds, Yvette looked at Dr. Albright with immense gratitude. "Doctor, I've decided to keep the baby. Thank you for your advice."

"You're welcome. Your body is still very weak, so you need plenty of rest. Avoid extreme emotional highs and lows, and try to focus on happy things. I'll prescribe some prenatal vitamins when you're discharged. Make sure you take them on time—it's vital for both you and the baby. If you're too weak, labor could become extremely dangerous."

"Thank you so much," Yvette said, thanking her profusely.

Charlotte scooped up the fruit from the bedside table and shoved it all into Dr. Albright's arms. "Take this! We're leaving Yvette in your good hands."

Unable to decline, the older doctor accepted the gift with a warm chuckle.

By the afternoon, Yvette was officially discharged.

Dr. Albright gave her the standard folic acid and DHA supplements, along with a tailored dietary plan.

Matthew came to pick the two women up.

"Yvette, are you heading back to the Shelby estate?" Matthew asked.

"Yeah." Yvette nodded, her gaze drifting out the window. "I need to figure out a way to get him to sign the custody waiver."

"Jabez is calculating and shrewd. Getting him to sign it will be tricky," Charlotte scoffed.

But since she had decided to keep the child, no matter how difficult it was, she would forge ahead without hesitation.

Yvette grabbed her purse and stepped out of the passenger side.

Charlotte leaned out from the back seat, her voice full of concern. "Call me if anything happens. My phone is on twenty-four seven."

"I will. Head back safe," Yvette waved. She then looked at Matthew. "Drive safe."

When she arrived at the villa, only Lena was there.

Yvette waited until nightfall, but Jabez never showed up.

In fact, Jabez didn't return for several days.

At noon one day.

Yvette went out to buy a coffee, taking the opportunity to go for a short walk.

No matter what, she had to make Jabez sign that custody waiver today.

After work, Yvette went straight to the old Shelby family estate.

"Grandma, is Jabez home?"

"He's upstairs in his study. Go on up and find him," Sybil said, a glint of excitement in her eyes.

Under her matchmaking efforts, it seemed their relationship was finally thawing.

At this rate, there was hope for a great-grandchild after all.

"I'll head up then." Yvette made her way upstairs and knocked on the study door.

"Come in."

Jabez glanced up at her and asked, "Do you need something?"

Yvette pulled out the prepared documents. "I'm planning to buy two high-coverage life insurance policies for my mother. The insurance company requires your signature as proof that I'm paying for it out of my own funds, just to avoid any unnecessary complications down the line."
