"I'm fine," Jabez waved him off. There were several crucial meetings he had to review today; he couldn't afford delays.

"Your wife mentioned that she sent a document to you about half a month ago?"

Corbin let out a brief, cynical chuckle before catching himself. "Yes, I handed it to you, but you told me to do whatever with it, so I just tossed it into the pile of unimportant files."

"Go get it," Jabez said, closing his eyes and massaging his temples.

Corbin dug through a stack of miscellaneous papers, found Yvette's envelope, and handed it to Jabez.

Jabez took it and slowly began unwinding the string closure. Just as his fingers pinched the documents inside, a sudden, violent cramp twisted his stomach.

The file slipped from his grasp, scattering onto the floor.

Jabez's sharp brows pulled into a tight knot, his sculpted jaw clenching as his face drained of color.

"Mr. Shelby, what's wrong? Is it your old stomach issue?" Corbin moved quickly, yanking open a desk drawer.

It was where the stomach medication was kept.

Truthfully, ever since he married Yvette, his stomach had been impeccably nursed by her care. For the past seven years, he hadn't suffered a single flare-up.

Corbin checked the expiration date and froze. "Sir, the medication is expired. I'll have someone buy a new bottle right now."

Jabez clutched his stomach, his body hunching over.

Corbin quickly rushed back and helped Jabez into the attached private lounge. "Please rest for a moment, Mr. Shelby. The medicine will be here right away."

Five minutes later.

Diana hurried in, holding a glass of water in one hand and the medicine in the other. "Mr. Shelby, the medicine is here."

Just as she was about to sit on the edge of the bed, Jabez shot her a razor-sharp glare.

Corbin immediately intercepted the items from Diana's hands and passed them to Jabez. He then turned to the assistant. "You can go back to work now."

Diana bit her lip, reluctance written all over her face.

This was her first time entering the CEO's private lounge, and she hadn't even gotten a good look around yet.

"Serves her right! That's karma for stealing someone else's husband," Charlotte said, tossing back a glass of wine.

"Congratulations, Yvette," Matthew raised his glass, clinking it gently against hers.

"Matthew, Charlotte, I'm going to be relying on you guys a lot from now on. Thank you both so much for taking care of me recently."

"Don't treat us like strangers, Yvette," Charlotte declared, raising her glass high. "Come on, let's toast to this fantastic day!"

Matthew smiled, his eyes resting softly on Yvette.

Yvette toasted with sparkling water, and the three clinked their glasses together.

The chiming of the crystal rang out beautifully.

A server pushed the door open to enter.

Walking past the room outside, Milton happened to catch the exact moment, completely witnessing the tender look in Matthew's eyes as he gazed at Yvette.

What were they celebrating?
