Sitting in the back of her chauffeur-driven car, Wynne answered her phone.

"Wynne, I got the test results back," Yvette said. "I'm heading to the main estate now."

"I'll see you there."

They arrived at the Shelby estate at almost the exact same time.

Sybil was sitting on the sofa, her hands clasped together, muttering quiet prayers.

"Sybil, we're back," Yvette announced softly.

"You're back! Well? Are you pregnant? What did the tests say?" Sybil asked urgently, looking at Wynne.

Wynne shot Yvette a look. "You tell her."

Yvette pulled the medical reports from her bag and laid them on the coffee table. "I'm not pregnant. All my levels are perfectly normal. The doctor said I'm one hundred percent healthy."

Wynne's expression soured even further.

She snatched up the papers, scanning them to confirm Yvette's words.

After the humiliation she'd suffered from Mrs. Godfrey earlier, Wynne was already in a foul mood. These results just added fuel to the fire.

If Yvette had just gotten pregnant, she wouldn't have to endure mockery from women beneath her social standing.

She glared at Yvette.

"Since there's nothing wrong with you, you and Jabez need to hurry up and try harder. I want you pregnant within five months—no, within a month!"

Yvette frowned.

Right now, she wanted nothing more than to sever all ties with Jabez Shelby.

Sybil looked at Wynne with sharp disapproval. "Do you think she can just conjure a child out of thin air? It took you years to get pregnant with Jabez after you joined the Shelby family, and I never breathed a word of complaint."

"You are her mother-in-law. Instead of supporting her, you're putting her under ridiculous pressure. Is that how you treat family?"

Wynne hadn't expected the old lady to air her dirty laundry right in front of Yvette. Her cheeks burned with humiliation.

Nothing ever went right when Yvette was involved.

She was an absolute jinx!

"Ugh."

She clamped a napkin over her mouth and gagged.

Sybil's eyes widened in concern, which quickly morphed into unbridled excitement.

"Is it just too early to show on the tests? Maybe you should go back to the doctor in a month!"

Wynne scoffed under her breath.

Even if an ultrasound couldn't pick it up, a blood test would easily detect a month-old pregnancy.

Yvette was clearly just playing to the old lady's hopes to stay in her good graces.

Simon looked at Yvette with a mocking smirk.

He figured she was pulling out all the stops just to get his brother's attention.

Faking a pregnancy? He had to admit, it was deviously calculated.

Jabez's dark eyes narrowed, his gaze locking onto Yvette with intense suspicion. "What's wrong with you?"
