A flicker of hesitation crossed Willow's eyes; this price had completely exceeded the actual value of the painting.

The host excitedly called out from the stage, "Six million going once!"

"Jabez, maybe we should let it go?"

Jabez turned his head to look at Willow. "If you like it, bid on it. You deserve the best."

Willow's heart soared with sweetness, and she revealed a demure, womanly smile.

"Six million going twice!"

Jabez casually raised his paddle and spoke in an indifferent tone, "Twenty million."

Sitting in the back, Yvette took in every detail of their sweet interaction.

She had seen Willow's hesitation perfectly clearly. If Jabez hadn't intervened, she would have had a chance to reclaim her grandfather's relic!

Yet, to show the crowd how much he pampered Willow, he personally slapped his own wife in the face.

A thousand arrows piercing the heart felt exactly like this.

Yvette felt so devastated she could barely breathe. She pressed a hand against her chest, leaning heavily against the back of her chair and gasping for air.

The entire room inhaled sharply.

The starting bid was two million, and the final price had actually reached an astonishing twenty million!

The Huxley family was going to skyrocket to the top.

They all unanimously wondered if it was still possible to partner with the Huxleys now.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before Willow married Jabez.

The landscape of Kingsbrook was about to change completely.

Matthew's expression shifted. "Yvette, are you okay?"

He didn't know anything about medicine and didn't dare move her, terrified of making things worse.

Yvette took a moment to recover, her breathing gradually steadying. "I'm sorry for worrying you, Matthew."

She took the elevator up to Jabez's office.

Pushing open the door, she walked right in.

Not having heard a knock, Jabez looked up, ready to reprimand whoever had entered. Seeing it was Wynne, he asked in confusion, "Mom, why are you here?"

"Am I not allowed to be here?" Wynne tossed her bag onto the sofa, walked up to his desk, and looked him dead in the eye.

"I heard you and Yvette are separated? And you have a public girlfriend?"

Though phrased as a question, her tone was certain—she had clearly looked into it.

Jabez's dark brows knitted slightly. "Who told you that?"

"Don't worry about that," Wynne said sternly. "What exactly is going on between you and Yvette?"

"She doesn't have an ounce of her former warmth toward you, and her attitude toward me and your brother has completely changed. What happened between you two?"

"Stay out of it." Jabez closed his file and raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
