Yvette nodded. She had haphazardly shoved them into her bag when she left the Shelby estate last night.
She pulled out the diamond ring and the unboxed necklace, handing them to Charlotte.
Charlotte took one look at the ring and snapped the box shut. The ring was fine.
But the loose, unboxed necklace... the more she looked at it, the more familiar it seemed.
She pulled out her phone and started searching. Two minutes later, Charlotte let out a furious scream: "Holy shit! That bastard gave you a GWP!"
Charlotte didn't even need to explain what a "Gift With Purchase" was; Yvette immediately understood.
A GWP was a throwaway freebie.
Yvette's eyes turned instantly frigid.
Charlotte opened her social media app and scrolled. Willow had updated her story the day before yesterday.
The caption read: *Thank you, Mr. Shelby, for spoiling me.*
The photo featured a limited-edition Hermes bag from the current season.
Yvette stared at Willow's post. It felt like her heart had been smashed by a blunt object, the agonizing pain radiating from her chest to every nerve in her body.
Charlotte's face flushed crimson with rage.
Like a machine gun, a barrage of creative, non-repeating curses flew from her mouth.
Yvette's face went completely dark. She walked straight to the trash can by the office door, raising her hand to chuck the necklace in.
Suddenly, a timid little voice piped up from nearby, "Miss."
A little girl in a beautiful princess dress stood there, her big eyes glistening.
Yvette's heart softened instantly. She walked over, her voice gentle. "What's wrong? Where's your mom?"
"Miss, I don't have a mom," the little girl said with heartbreaking innocence. "If you don't want that necklace, can I have it? I think it's really pretty."
Hearing those words, Yvette felt an ache in her chest. Her eyes filled with tenderness. "Should I help you put it on?"
"I'm sorry, Daddy. I was wrong." The little girl hung her head, looking so pitiful and ready for her punishment.
Milton's anger instantly evaporated. He chided gently, "What did Daddy tell you? You can't just run off. What if something happened to you?"
"I know I was wrong." Nola swung Milton's hand, looking up at him with pleading eyes.
Milton picked her up, his brows furrowing as he carried her out of the Azure Atelier.
He had come to the studio today because his grandfather demanded he drop off a painting for restoration.
He had tried convincing his grandfather to take it to Willow, but no matter what he said, the old man refused to trust Willow's skills.
He insisted the piece had to go to the Azure Atelier.
It wasn't until they were sitting in the car that Milton noticed the delicate, sun-shaped necklace resting against Nola's collarbone.
"Where did you get this?" Milton asked, unclasping it.
"Daddy, I saw a pretty lady who was going to throw it away. I really liked it, so I asked if I could have it, and she gave it to me! I really like her," Nola babbled happily.
