Trent's temper instantly flared.
Willow quickly reached out to placate him. "Trent, it's fine. Please don't get into an argument with her over me."
Yvette seriously doubted the Sterling family's future once Trent fully took over.
With an intellect like his, it was a miracle he was even considered the heir.
"She just reeks of a manipulative mean girl. Pretending to care about you while desperately wanting to see you fail," Charlotte scoffed, crossing her arms defensively.
Milton remained completely silent, choosing not to defend either side.
"Mr. Sutton, I'll see you at Solstice in a week. I'm very much looking forward to exploring restoration techniques with you," Willow said, radiating an aura of absolute confidence.
Trent looked at her with even more blatant admiration.
Matthew merely smiled without saying a word, a reaction Willow effortlessly brushed off.
Willow, Trent, and Milton walked away.
"She is unbelievable. Comes over here acting like she cares, but really just wants to mock you. And Trent follows her around like a loyal little lapdog," Charlotte cursed under her breath.
"I noticed Milton Graham actually acknowledged you. He didn't even throw a sarcastic insult your way today. Did something happen between you two?" Matthew asked.
"I saved his daughter, Nola," Yvette replied, then paused to ask. "Wait, since when does he have a daughter?"
"Nola is actually his older brother's kid. His brother and sister-in-law passed away when Nola was only six months old. To make sure she grew up in a healthy environment, Milton had her call him Dad," Matthew explained.
A flash of surprise crossed Yvette's eyes.
"If your grandmother sees the Huxleys, she's probably going to be furious. Should we find an excuse to get her out of here early?" Charlotte leaned in and whispered.
Yvette thought about it for two seconds, then shook her head. "It's so rare for her to get to see Sybil. She won't leave easily."
"Fair point."
While Trent and Milton went off to socialize, Willow found a quiet sofa and sat down with her wine glass.
Her eyes followed Milton's retreating figure.
Flint had fully expected Willow to bash Yvette.
To hear her offer a compliment instead only elevated his respect and interest in her.
"At the charity gala last time, I saw Ms. Yeats relentlessly throwing herself at Mr. Shelby," Flint remarked, casually taking a sip of his wine to recount what he saw that day.
Willow froze for a fraction of a second, internally cursing Yvette for being a shameless tramp trying to steal her boyfriend.
But on the outside, she didn't let a single crack show. She maintained her composed, unbothered facade. "Jabez and I have a very strong relationship. I trust him completely."
"You're very confident, Ms. Huxley," Flint's lips curved into an intrigued smile, finding himself increasingly drawn to her.
"Of course," Willow nodded firmly. "What Jabez and I share isn't something just anyone can easily destroy."
Flint took the initiative to raise his glass and clink it against hers. The two exchanged a warm smile, acting as if they were old friends who had finally reunited.
A gleam of triumph flashed in Willow's eyes.
Yvette, you are destined to spend your entire life beneath my heel!
