Jason seemed to understand, nodding eagerly at Isabella with hopeful eyes. Isabella felt as if they’d come to a silent agreement.
“Go out to play?” she asked, puzzled. “Don’t you get enough playtime here?”
The therapy center had plenty of playgrounds and activity areas—it wasn’t like Jason ever lacked space to run around.
Besides, he’d always been more of a homebody. Even on weekends, if she tried to take him to the park, he’d often ask to head back home after just a little while.
Jason had loved drawing since he was small, partly because he enjoyed his own quiet time.
“Jason hasn’t had dinner yet,” Sander answered for him. “I promised him I’d take him out for something nice tonight.”
He added gently, “I’ve already made a reservation. Let’s all go eat together–we can talk over dinner, and it’ll make Jason happy too.”
Isabella was about to respond when Jason wrapped his little arms around her neck and planted two loud, smacking kisses on her cheek.
It was his most convincing form of begging.
Helpless, she gave in. “Alright then… thank you for arranging this.”
Meanwhile, inside a black sedan parked across the street, Amelia zoomed in with her phone camera and snapped several shots in quick succession.
The photos showed Isabella, Sander, and a young boy standing close together.
With their relaxed, familiar posture, they could easily be mistaken for a family of three.
Amelia glanced coldly at the images, selected a contact from her list, and hit send.
A few seconds later, Linda’s phone buzzed with the incoming pictures.
She was sitting locked inside her bedroom at that moment–after the incident at the hospital with Noah, her father had confined her to the house.
She’d tried calling Quill for help, but not only did they refuse to intervene, they’d coldly informed her she would face consequences for acting on her own.

Furious, Linda had hung up. Control freak. Absolute lunatic.

But sure enough, it wasn’t long before her family learned about her unauthorized use of the pharmaceutical lab. Her father, Ray, had exploded in anger, locking her in her room and forbidding her from going anywhere near Xavier again.
Linda didn’t need to guess who was behind the leak–this was clearly Quill’s idea of punishment.
Ray took anything related to the lab extremely seriously, and this time he was truly enraged. Not even her mother could talk him into relenting anytime soon.
That was when Linda remembered a former junior from Moore Group she’d once helped- Amelia.
They’d attended the same university, and Amelia had aced the interviews, only to be disqualified for showing up a few minutes late to the final round.
By chance, Linda had run into her that day and noticed her wearing their alma mater’s hoodie. They’d struck up a conversation, and afterward, Linda had personally persuaded HR to take her on as an intern.
But even after two years, Amelia was still stuck in that trainee role–held back, Linda assumed, by insecure managers above her.
Though their departments sometimes collaborated, Linda had never paid much attention to the girl’s situation. She’d figured Amelia would quit sooner or later, yet to her surprise, she’d stubbornly stayed on.
Most colleagues at Moore Group flocked around Linda when it suited them, but she knew better than to trust any of them when things got rough.
Now that Isabella was in favor, they’d be busy cozying up to her instead.
Amelia, though, had been different–she’d sent Linda thoughtful messages after she left the company, each word filled with genuine concern and gratitude.
At first, Linda had only intended to use her to gather information on Xavier and Isabella. She never expected Amelia would actually end up as Xavier’s executive assistant.
If Amelia was really just some naïve intern, Linda wouldn’t have believed it for a second.
But if she was so clever, why had she remained an intern for two whole years?
Was it really just bad luck?

Linda couldn’t figure it out, but right now, she didn’t need to.
Because the photos now lighting up her screen were exactly what she needed.
She immediately called Amelia. “Isabella has a child? You’re sure?”
