Chapter 198 Arriving Uninvited
it Stanley didn’t get to see the child that day, the whole visit would have been even harder to resolve.
It was better he focus his attention on her than on the boy.
As a mother, she had to stand her ground and shield her son. Hiding wasn’t an option.

Seeing Isabella’s mind was made up, the housekeeper had little choice but to hurry Skyler away. The boy squirmed and struggled, but couldn’t break free, so he just shot a fierce scowl over his shoulder before storming off to his room.
Just then, the doorbell chimed.
The housekeeper rushed to check the monitor, but the person outside seemed toring more out of formality–the electronic lock was overridden with a sharp buzz, and the front door swung open.
Stanley stepped inside, trailed by a small entourage.
Wilson wasn’t with him this time. Besides Teresa, who held his arm, a well–dressed middle–aged man carrying a leather medical case stayed close at his side. His face was unfamiliar–Isabella guessed he was the Moore family’s private physician.
Isabella immediately moved forward, blocking the way. She clenched her hands, gaze steady as she took in Stanley and the cluster of men behind him. Her voice was calm but
left no room for doubt. “Mr. Moore, what is the meaning of this? Breaking into our home–are you here to take again, or have you come to finish what was started?”
Jacob and the other staff quickly moved to flank Isabella.
Jacob’s tone was icy. “Mr. Stanley Moore, Mr. Moore is home at present. For the sake of the family, I advise you not to escalate matters further.”
“There’s no need for alarm,” Teresa cut in smoothly, picking up the thread. “Father only came to see you and the boy.”
She paused, then deliberately closed the distance, taking Isabella’s hand in hers.
“What happened last time was Wilson’s doing alone,” Teresa continued, her manner rehearsed. “Wilson has since taken his own life in remorse, and everyone else involved in harming you and your son has been handed over to Xavier. Father came specifically to apologize to you and to him.”
A faint chill passed through Isabella at the mention of Wilson’s death.
She glanced past Teresa and saw Stanley standing there, a thin, unreadable smile on his lips.

Unlike the last confrontation, the men behind him remained respectfully near the entryway, postures restrained
“An apology isn’t necessary. Xavier still needs his rest-”
Isabella tried to withdraw her hand, but she noticed Teresa’s fingers tighten almost imperceptibly.
“Father made the trip all the way here. The least Xavier could do is come out and acknowledge him. Otherwise,” Teresa added, her tone dipping, “people might think he truly intends to sever ties with the family.”
She emphasized Xavier again. Isabella understood–she was pressing for Xavier to appear and stand beside her.

But in his current state, Xavier could barely sit up, let alone face Stanley.
And Stanley had likely counted on that.
“Xavier is recovering from serious injuries, He needs quiet,” Isabella replied evenly.
As she spoke, Stanley, supported by an aide, stepped forward until he stood before her.

“Besides,” Stanley said, his voice deceptively gentle, “Xavier has always had a temper. If we don’t first secure your acceptance of our apology, his anger would be… understandable.”
His words sounded earnest, but a cold undercurrent ran beneath them.
A visible stiffness settled into Teresa’s expression. A shiver seemed to pass through her before she controlled it.
Isabella’s eyes flickered. It was clear–the relationship between Teresa and Stanley wasn’t that of an ordinary father and daughter.
Teresa was afraid of him. And Stanleytt

right through his daughter’s maneuvers.
“Ms. Moore, you both know Xavier’s nature better than I do. I can’t speak for his actions.”
Isabella’s voice turned cool. She deliberately pulled her hand free, putting clear space between herself and Teresa.
She and Teresa had never been close. In truth, Isabella had always found Teresa rather severe. But last time, when Teresa had stood up for Jason in front of Stanley, Isabella had felt a thread of gratitude.
Even so, she knew exactly the kind of man Stanley was.
He controlled and used his own children without hesitation. EveryWilson, his adopted son, had been discarded without a second thought…
The man was cold–blooded, devoid of ordinary humanity.
If Teresa stayed visibly aligned with Isabella now, it would only bring trouble down on her.
Reading the frost in Isabella’s manner, Teresa took the cue.
