She froze immediately, then shuddered violently once she realized what he meant.
Linda stammered, terrified, “Xavier… what are you talking about…”
“Five years ago, the procedure Isabella had,” Xavier said slowly, his tone chilling to the bone.
He enunciated every word harshly, his tone so cold it felt like it could freeze.

“I told her to get rid of that bastard child… but I never sent anyone to take her in for the surgery.” Xavier’s voice rose sharply on the last few words, sending a jolt of dread through Linda’s chest.
Linda reached out to grab his arm, but Xavier jerked away roughly.
He stared at her with empty, lifeless eyes–as if looking at a corpse.
She stated, “Xavier, I did it for you. I didn’t mean to. I found out Isabella had cheated on you, and I was so angry… I felt so bad for you…”
“I never asked for your pity,” Xavier snapped.
He suddenly clamped one hand around Linda’s thin neck and squeezed gently, yanking her roughly toward his chest.
“If I didn’t owe you something from five years ago, I’d kill you right now,” he said casually, but those cut deeper in Linda’s chest.
Tears welled up in Linda’s eyes. She wanted to sob, but she was too scared to make a sound. “Xavier… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”

Touched of red appeared in Xavier’s eyes, but Linda could tell it wasn’t hatred for her–it was grief.

Xavier sneered, “So you’re the one who spread the lie that I saw you as my one true love?”
Linda didn’t deny it. Tears fell one by one onto his hand.
Xavier suddenly understood everything.
Veins popped out on the back of his hand as he fought the urge to tear her apart. Eventually, he let her go.
“Isabella’s just a gold digger. She never loved you, not from the start. She only wanted what you have. Why. Why did you marry someone like her? I just… I can’t accept it.” Linda clutched her neck and finally broke down crying.
“Whether she loves me or not is none of your business,” Xavier said, turning away from her.
He continued, “Starting tomorrow, Moore Group will cut all ties with the Allen family. Don’t come near me again. And if anyone else
