“Mr. Moore, is something on your mind?” Jacob asked softly.

Xavier cleared his throat and murmured, “Say… say you upset a woman, but you want to make things right with her. What would
you…”
“Oh, Mr. Moore! You mean you and Mrs. Moore fought, and you want to know how to cheer her up?” Jacob caught on right away and put it plainly.
He didn’t see Xavier’s face turn stiff.
“I’m talking about you,” Xavier gritted out, barely holding back his temper.
Jacob finally realized his blunder and tensed up. “Me? Mr. Moore, I… I only focus on work. I don’t even have a girlfriend–why wo I ever upset a woman?”
“Get out,” Xavier snapped.
He must have been so sleep–deprived that he was delirious to ask Jacob for help.
“Yes, Mr. Moore,” Jacob mumbled, looking defeated.
Right after Jacob left the office, he ran into Sander.
Sander was holding a file, being escorted toward Xavier’s office by an assistant.
He greeted Jacob with a smile. “Jacob, it has been a long time.”
Jacob blinked in surprise. It had been years, and Sander had grown so tall he was nearly Xavier’s height.
His whole vibe was completely different, too.
Jacob remembered him as quiet, distant, and hard to talk to.
But now he wore a crisp suit, carried himself smoothly, and seemed gentle and polished.
Jacob hurried to greet him.
“A shareholder from the Whitman family is here to see you, Mr. Moore,” the assistant announced outside the office.
“Come in,” Xavier said.
With his permission, the assistant opened the door for Sander Sander thanked her, stepped inside, and sat on the sofa across from
Xavier.
Xavier’s eyes turned ice–cold the moment he saw Sander.
“Get out,” he ordered.
He never would’ve guessed the Whitman family would send Sander to talk about ending their partnership.
