Chapter 203
Norah’s POV:
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds.
“Nono, this lie won’t fool him for long.”

“I know it won’t last,” I whispered into the phone, tears spilling uncontrollably, “But right now, this is all I’ve got! Teo, I can’t let him find out about the baby! I can’t let them get dragged into that damn mess with the Constantine family!”
“Teo, you’re the only one who can help me now. Do whatever it takes–don’t let him uncover anything! Please!”
“Alright.” Mateo didn’t argue anymore. “Leave it to me.”
I hung up and slid down the wall, feeling completely drained.
Vivienne’s stupidity was like a key that unlocked Pandom’s box.
Lucien was suspicious now.
That thought felt like an invisible hand squeezing my throat, choking the air out of me.
I curled up, burying my face deep into my arms, my body trembling uncontrollably.
I had to stay calm.
Leo and Luna–they were still waiting for me.
Knock, knock, knock.
I lost track of time until there was a knock at the door–controlled, but with a pressure that made it impossible to ignore.
Then came Lucien’s cold voice that sent chills down my spine.
“Norah, open up. We need to talk.”
My heart skipped a beat.
What did he want to talk about?
I didn’t move or say a word. I just bit my lip hard and held my breath.
The knocking stopped.
But I knew he was still there, standing right outside the oor like a patient beast, waiting for its prey to come out on its own.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Time dragged on in suffocating silence, every second feling like an eternity.

Chapter 203
I knew I couldn’t hide this time.
Taking a deep breath, I leaned against the wall and slowly pushed myself up.
My legs were still weak, but I forced myself to stand tall
I walked over to the mirror.

The woman staring back at me had messy hair, red–rimmed eyes, and tear stains still wet on her face- looking broken and vulnerable.
No.
It couldn’t be like this.
I turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on my cheeks over and over. The biting chill cleared the fog in my head.
I lifted my gaze and stared at the reflection–eyes sharp calm, even a little wild.
Norah, you’re not the same weak girl who just cried three years ago anymore.
I fixed my messy skirt, tucked the stray hairs behind my ears, and reapplied that bold, fierce lipstick–the one that always gives me a boost of confidence.
The woman in the mirror, except for a little lingering redness in her eyes, showed no sign of panic.
She had turned back into that calm, strong, in–control queen.
Then, I turned around and walked toward the door.
I took a deep breath and yanked it open.
Sure enough, Lucien was standing right there in the doorway. He didn’t expect me to open the door so suddenly–surprise flickered across his handsome face.
He was holding a tablet, the screen still glowing.
“What’s this about?” I leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, cutting him off. “If it’s about work, we already covered everything in the meeting room.”
“If it’s personal, then I don’t think we have anything to lk about.”
He didn’t say a word. Instead, he turned the screen toward me.
On it was a photo.
A blurry shot taken with a telephoto lens.
The background was a big mall in Washington–brightghts, people bustling around.
A woman in a trench coat and sunglasses, her silhouette looking a lot like mine.
And she was pushing a…

Double stroller.
Inside, two tiny figures were bundled up under thick blankets, faces hidden.
Boom-
My mind went completely blank.
That photo stabbed into my heart like a knife.
All my defenses, all my pretending, were about to crumble right then and there.
Lucien slowly lifted his eyes.
No anger, no jealousy–just a bottomless coldness mixed with sharp curiosity.
His lips moved, and he said just one thing:
“Who is this?”
My heart nearly stopped. It felt like all the blood in my body froze.
I forced myself to stay calm, even managed a natural, slightly helpless smile.
I glanced at the photo and said in a steady voice:

“That’s a friend of mine in Washington. She just had twins and isn’t feeling well, so I’ve been helping take care of her for a few days.”
Even I almost believed that perfect lie.
Lucien didn’t say a word. He just stared at me.
His gaze felt like it was slicing through me, trying to see every secret buried deep inside.
Then, he took a step forward and walked into the room.
I instinctively stepped back.
“Which friend?”
He closed in on me step by step, his tall figure completely overshadowing me.
“I had no idea you had a friend in Washington you actually push around in a stroller at the mall.
“Lucien, my social life isn’t part of our deal,” I snapped, backing into the cold wall until it pressed against my back. No way out.
“Not anymore.” He stretched out his hand, slamming it gainst the wall right next to my ear. “Name and contact info. I want to confirm it myself.”
That familiar cedar scent he wore suddenly hit me like punch to the gut, stirring up a fear I’d never felt before.
My voice started shaking, out of my control.

“Private?” He let out a low, mocking laugh.

“Norah, did you forget? According to our contract, for these three months, everything about you belongs to me.”
He looked at my red–rimmed eyes and my trembling body, softened just a bit.
His hand reached out, trying to touch my face, his voice dropping to a rough, husky tone.
“Norah, stop lying to me…”
“I’m not lying!”
“Then tell me her name!” His voice snapped, sharp and demanding.
“Why the hell should I tell you?!”
“Because I’m your sugar daddy right now!” He grabbed my chin hard. “Or maybe you can’t say it because that person is you, isn’t it? Norah! Those two kids are yours!”
