Chapter 110: Unexpected Fame
The following morning at Golden Coast, the master bedroom was cloaked in the soft glow of dawn. Lilian lay curled beneath the thick blankets, her breathing slow and steady in deep sleep. Nearby, her phone buzzed incessantly, its screen lighting up with call after call.
Groggily, still half-dreaming, Lilian reached out blindly and pressed the answer button.
A man’s urgent voice broke through the haze. “Do you realize what’s happening? You’ve gone completely viral!”
Lilian blinked, still trying to shake off the fog of sleep. “Viral? For what?” she murmured, confusion tugging at her words.
“You, Lilian. Remember last night? You sang in the central plaza.” Wayne’s voice held a teasing edge. “Someone caught it on video and posted it online. Now everyone’s obsessed, trying to uncover who the mystery singer is. I blurred the footage as soon as it appeared—you shouldn’t be recognizable.”
Lilian sat up quickly, heart pounding. She grabbed her phone and opened the homepage. Sure enough, the top trending video was her performance in the plaza. Overnight, it had already amassed over ten thousand comments.
“Wow, that was amazing! What’s the song called?” one comment read.
“I’ve had it on repeat since last night!” another chimed in.
“Does anyone else feel like the girl singing had such a captivating aura? Too bad the video is so blurry.”
“Can anyone find a clearer version?”
Lilian rubbed her temples, a mix of frustration and disbelief washing over her. Drinking had certainly led to unexpected complications. With so many shares already, there was no way to contain the spread now. At least Wayne had been quick to blur her face—otherwise, this would have been a nightmare.
Later that morning, Lilian arrived at school.
The moment she stepped into the classroom, Natalie shot her a sly grin and blinked knowingly. “Lilian, I figured it out! That girl in the video last night? It’s totally you. The image is fuzzy, sure, but I know my goddess—I could recognize you with my eyes closed.”
Lilian smiled, a little helplessly. “Okay, okay, you got me. But promise me you won’t tell anyone. Not a word.”
Natalie’s eyes sparkled. “Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me. But seriously, I had no idea you were this talented! You’re not just a medicine genius, your singing is incredible too.”
She paused, then gave Lilian a playful glare. “But still… how could you go to the plaza without inviting me? I missed the live show!”
Lilian pulled out her books, shrugging. “It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. Next time, I promise I’ll bring you along.”
Natalie nodded firmly. “You better! No backing out.” She huffed but dropped the subject.
As Lilian had expected, the video’s popularity only skyrocketed. Online, speculation ran wild. Everyone was desperate to uncover the identity of the mysterious singer.
There were countless guesses, but no concrete leads. That thought gave Lilian some peace of mind.
