Chapter 158: Eric
As darkness settled over the city of Solara, the presidential suite of the St. Peter Hotel was bathed in the soft glow of ambient lights. Eric reclined on the plush sofa in the lounge area, his sharp eyes locked onto the small screen of his phone. On it, a video played quietly—the same performance by Lillian from earlier that afternoon, her delicate movements and haunting melody captivating him anew.
A gentle knock interrupted the quiet. One of Eric’s trusted aides stepped inside, bowing respectfully as he extended a neatly organized folder. “Sir, this is the information I managed to retrieve from the school.”
Eric accepted the folder, flipping through the pages with careful attention. His voice was low, almost a whisper. “An orphan…”
The man nodded. “Yes, sir. The principal confirmed that Lillian was admitted to Riverdale High School with the highest entrance score from a neighboring county. The records list her as an orphan. However, there’s more—she’s reputed to be exceptionally talented in medicine, quite well known among Solara’s elite circles.”
Eric’s brow furrowed, surprise flickering across his features. “Medicine?” He leaned forward, his tone dropping to a hushed urgency. “I want a deeper investigation. Every detail you can find. And this stays strictly between us—no one else, especially not the old man, can know.”
“Understood, sir.” The aide gave a brief nod before retreating silently.
Eric reached for the glass of red wine resting on the table nearby, swirling the rich liquid thoughtfully before taking a slow, deliberate sip. His gaze drifted toward the floor-to-ceiling windows, where the city lights shimmered distantly. A question echoed in his mind: Could she truly be the one I’ve been searching for all this time?
Shortly after the day’s festivities concluded, videos of the event began to surface online.
Riverdale High School already held a prestigious reputation in Solara, so once the clips were uploaded, they quickly amassed a massive number of views. The performances were polished, each class revealing hidden talents that surprised many.
But when Lillian’s performance appeared on the feed, the reaction was immediate and intense.
On stage, she wore a flowing teal gown that shimmered softly under the stage lights, giving her an almost ethereal presence. Her flawless features seemed as if carved from moonlight, untouchable and mesmerizing.
Her slender fingers moved gracefully across the violin strings, coaxing out a melody both haunting and beautiful. Every note was filled with elegance, a bittersweet longing that seemed to transcend time itself.
