Chapter 263: A Warm Morning
They entered a secluded private room, the soft hum of the restaurant fading behind the closed door. After giving a few hushed instructions, Sebastian dismissed the manager with a subtle nod. The atmosphere settled into a quiet intimacy, the kind that invited calm and focus.
Shortly after, a server appeared, carrying a tray laden with breakfast. The table quickly became a colorful spread of warm buns, fresh milk, perfectly cooked eggs, and an assortment of other morning delicacies, filling the room with a comforting aroma.
Lillian stared at the generous array with a mixture of surprise and amusement. “This is way too much. There’s no way the two of us can finish all this,” she said, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Sebastian lifted a soft bun, breaking it gently as he replied, “It’s alright. Just take a little bit of everything. Taste it all.”
She hesitated for a moment before taking a small bite, her eyes brightening as the flavors danced on her tongue. The food was undeniably delicious, far better than she had expected.
Noticing the flicker of pleasure on her face, a gentle smile curved Sebastian’s lips. Food had never been something Lillian cared about deeply, so seeing her enjoy the meal was a rare, almost precious moment. Encouraged, he nudged another plate closer to her, silently inviting her to indulge a little more.
By the time breakfast was over, Lillian felt completely satisfied. Setting down her fork, she patted her stomach with a contented sigh. “I’m full. If I eat any more, I’ll turn into a pig,” she joked lightly.
Sebastian reached for a napkin and tenderly wiped the corner of her mouth. His voice dropped to a low, magnetic murmur, “A little extra weight wouldn’t hurt. You’d be even more comfortable to hold.”
Lillian shot him a playful glare, a spark of amusement lighting her eyes. This man was growing bolder by the day, always looking for a chance to tease her.
He simply chuckled, his hand reaching out to ruffle her hair with affectionate ease.
Suddenly, Lillian’s phone rang, breaking the calm. She glanced at the screen and answered quickly. Karina’s voice came through, tense and urgent. “Lillian, it’s started. The herb was stolen last night.”
A sharp, humorless smile played at Lillian’s lips as she drummed her fingers lightly on the table. “Mm. Don’t startle the snake. Stick to the original plan.”
