Chapter 297: Noreen’s Hidden Intentions
Fawks cast a sharp glance at the two men sitting beside him, their faces still clouded with disbelief. His tone carried a hint of irritation as he said, “Come on, you’re eating for free and still grumbling? At least show a little appreciation, will you?” Without waiting for a response, he pulled out his phone and began dialing. “Hello, front desk? Yes, I’d like to order a plate of pan-seared cod and some toast…”
The casual ease with which he spoke surprised the other two, who exchanged a quick look before blurting out together, “Wait, you can actually do that?” Moments later, both of them hurriedly retrieved their own phones, eager to place orders.
Meanwhile, Noreen moved gracefully between the kitchen and the table, placing dish after dish before the trio. Her eyes scanned the group as she paused and asked, “Where’s Sebastian?”
Cameron tilted his head toward the staircase leading to the second floor. “He’s upstairs, playing the role of Prince Charming—waking his Sleeping Beauty.”
Noreen’s expression flickered for just a moment, a subtle freeze in her movements, but she quickly masked it with a gentle smile, as if nothing had unsettled her. “If you’re hungry, don’t wait. Dig in. I’ll have two more dishes ready shortly.” With that, she turned and disappeared back into the kitchen.
Manny observed her retreating figure with a shake of his head, a mixture of frustration and fondness in his eyes. They had grown up side by side; there was an unspoken bond between them, even if neither wanted to admit it openly.
Fawks followed Noreen’s silhouette with his gaze and said quietly, “If you get a chance, talk to her. We all saw what went down last night. Sebastian’s feelings for Lillian aren’t something a few words could just erase. Honestly, after witnessing that, it hit me—only someone like Lillian could truly match him.”
Manny nodded, his agreement firm. “Exactly. Sebastian may be at the top, but the challenges he faces are far from ordinary. And Lillian… she’s got the strength to handle it all with ease. Noreen, with her sheltered life, just isn’t built for that world.”
Fawks added with a smirk, “Lillian wouldn’t waste her time on petty games like Noreen’s.”
Cameron grinned widely, eager to join the conversation. “Right, right! Lillian’s basically a goddess in my eyes now. She can fight, take down jerks, and on top of that, she’s a medical genius. Honestly, I admire her so much I’m practically on my knees. From this moment forward, Lillian’s officially my second idol.”
